Flapen cover for Substant vs Flapen for Full-Service Amazon Management: a Flapen operator marking milestones on a blank wall calendar at a sample table

Substant describes itself on its website as an Amazon agency focused on growth, data, and performance. Its site organizes that offer into six service blocks written in Danish. Flapen employs 50 operators, sources in Guangzhou, shoots in Dubai, and subcontracts nothing, so six written questions separate the two models.

The short version

  • Substant states growth, data, and performance as its focus. Its meta description carries those words as of September 2026.
  • Substant organizes the offer into six blocks. They run from Analyze and Strategy to Business Intelligence.
  • Substant publishes no fee on the captured page. Its figures sit inside case headlines, not beside a service.
  • Flapen keeps every function on one payroll. Sourcing and quality control in Guangzhou, creative in Dubai, nothing subcontracted.
  • Flapen publishes what one operator carries. About 70 brands across 50 operators, about 1.4 each.

What Substant says it offers

Everything below comes from one page on substant.dk, captured on 5 September 2026. The site is Danish, so the lines are translated, and where it addresses the visitor as you, the translation keeps your.

Its meta description states that Substant is an Amazon agency focused on growth, data, and performance. It offers a business assessment as the basis for your Amazon growth strategy. The headline reads Strategisk Amazon Rådgivning, strategic Amazon advisory.

Six blocks sit under that headline, in captured order: Analyze and Strategy, Content Creation, Brand Universe, Performance Marketing, Support Service, and Business Intelligence. Content Creation is the only one with a service sentence under it, as of September 2026. It states that elements such as SEO, convertible triggers, and USPs bring consumers to your product and convert to sales.

Three article teasers sit beside those blocks. One states that Seller Central data can improve your business, analyze KPIs, and raise your profit. A second covers a postal suspension and the end of the De Minimis threshold, and what that means for your bottom line.

The third names the Amazon and TikTok integration, and how TikTok influencers raise your sales on Amazon. A separate line states that it helps brands grow on Amazon, above a section headed selected cases with four case headlines, each with a figure. One quote states that Substant demonstrates a solid understanding of the economics of selling on Amazon.

No fee, no pricing model, no partner badge, and no founding year appears on the page. It does not state who does the work, where the team sits, or what is subcontracted.

What Flapen offers

Two studios set the limit of what I promise. Sourcing and quality control run out of Guangzhou, photography and video out of Dubai, everyone on our payroll.

In-house changes one thing. When a supplier misses a tolerance, the inspector who catches it and the photographer who reshoots the listing answer to the same company. Fifty operators carry about 70 brands, about 1.4 each.

All 50+ services come at every tier, $800 a month for one product up to $2,400 for five, no commission. You run month to month on 30 days of notice and leave with the account, the campaigns, and the creative. That is Amazon brand management.

Our system runs five steps: market, product, traffic, plan, launch. A product is engineered for 0.2 stars above the niche average, then 200 units go live on $5,000 to $10,000 in Phase 1.

Our science publishes 193,753 niches scored at the 2026-08-26 capture, of which 4.8% pass, on 90+ data points each. Operators run accounts in software we wrote for ads and valuation, on the data layer our platform serves to 15,000 sellers a month. Every task they finish becomes an SOP that trains the agents shipping next.

Where Substant may be the right fit

Fit follows what a company states about itself, not a judgment on the work. Substant publishes in Danish at substant.dk, so a brand that wants its Amazon channel discussed in Danish is reading a site written for it. Its meta description offers a business assessment as the basis for your Amazon growth strategy, which suits a seller who wants that before a scope.

Its article teasers name Seller Central data, De Minimis and a postal suspension, and the Amazon and TikTok integration.

A brand we launched and run

Every store on flapen.com/results was built and launched through Flapen's Amazon FBA service. Vora Bowl sells chilled serving bowls on Amazon with Flapen managing the account. Our Full Account Management team plans the ad spend, keeps the listings sharp and reports on the numbers every week.

The headline figure is 5.7% TACoS at scale. The outcome sentence reads: Record sales days on the most efficient ad account in the portfolio, with six-figure monthly targets carried on $5K of monthly spend.

How to test both of us

Sellers write to me saying my product is live but sales are not where they should be. Six questions, in writing, to everyone on your shortlist including me. Full weight for a specific answer, half for a general one, zero for silence.

Question Weight Full weight looks like
Who does the work, and where do they sit? 25 Employed roles, named cities, subcontractors named
How many brands does my account manager carry? 20 A ratio. Ours is about 1.4
What is included at my tier? 15 Services listed, not a package name
What does the fee cover, and what is extra? 15 A number, then what is billed outside it
What makes you tell me to stop selling a product? 15 Four signals over 60 to 90 days
What do I keep on exit, and on what notice? 10 Account, campaigns, creative, notice in days

Set the pass mark yourself. Under 70 out of 100 the shortlist is not finished, and if Flapen misses your bar, do not hire us.

What most agencies will not tell you

A comparison page written by one agency about another proves nothing, so score the answers and ignore my adjectives. Weight the four things that cost most over a year.

What to weight Weight Why it sits that high
Who actually touches the account 35 A subcontracted account hides a second margin in your fee
Attention per account manager 25 Twenty brands to one manager is a queue, not a service
Who owns the decision to stop 25 A product that should have ended in month four eats cash
What you hold on exit 15 Rebuilding campaigns and creative costs you a quarter

Most companies price the relationship rather than the work, then staff it to the fee.

Substant alternatives

This purchase comes in four shapes, and the shape matters more than the name on the door. One team on the whole account for a monthly fee is the full-service shape, and a specialist buys one function, almost always the ad account. An in-house hire puts the skill on your payroll, while a platform leaves you the data and hands back the doing.
