Flapen cover for Best product launch services for Amazon UK and Germany: final quality check of a first production run at a white bench

Score candidates on four European specifics: German copy written natively rather than translated, tax and packaging compliance either handled or clearly excluded, freight and customs into the right fulfillment network, and keyword research done per marketplace. A UK launch and a German launch are different projects, and anyone treating them as one will underprice both.

The short version

  • Germany is not the UK with different words. Buyer expectations, return behavior and review tone all differ, and the copy has to reflect that.
  • Translated listings underperform written ones. Machine translation preserves meaning and loses the search terms people actually type.
  • Compliance is a separate workstream. Registration obligations exist in both markets, and they are usually excluded from an agency scope without being mentioned.
  • Freight and fulfillment routing decides your launch date. Stock in the wrong network is stock you cannot sell.
  • Ask where the people doing the work sit. Our sourcing runs from our own Guangzhou studio and our creative from Dubai, and you should be able to get an equally direct answer from anyone you consider.

The scorecard

Mark each candidate from one to ten, multiply by the weight, and add it up. The three gates below the table override the score entirely.

Criterion Weight Evidence of a strong answer
Native German copywriting 20 A named writer, sample listings, and search terms researched in German rather than translated from English
Per-marketplace keyword research 15 Separate keyword sets for the UK and Germany, with the reasoning for the differences
Compliance clarity 15 A written list of what they do, what you must do, and what needs your tax adviser
Logistics and fulfillment routing 15 Concrete answers on inbound routing, customs documentation and which network holds stock
Advertising per marketplace 10 Separate budgets, separate structures, separate efficiency targets
Customer service and returns 10 German-language handling, and a view on return rates in your category
Creative adaptation 10 Images and A plus modules rebuilt per marketplace, not resized
Staffing transparency 5 Who does the work, where they sit, and whether anything is subcontracted

Gate one: can they show you German-language listings they wrote. Not translated, wrote. If not, everything else is theoretical.

Gate two: do they separate compliance from marketing in the proposal. Silence here means you will discover the obligation late.

Gate three: do they have a view on your category's return rate in Germany. Returns behave differently market to market, and an agency with no opinion has not operated there.

Which market first

If you must choose one, choose on category evidence rather than on language comfort. The UK is the easier operational start for an English-speaking seller because the listing assets transfer with light editing. Germany is frequently the larger prize in categories where German buyers are the deeper market, and the effort of proper localization is exactly why fewer sellers do it well.

The pattern that works: prove the product in one marketplace, keep the second one behind a gate, and expand once the rating, conversion rate and acquisition cost are stable. Content in English, German, Spanish and French covers most of the European opportunity, and the same discipline applies to each addition.

What most agencies will not tell you

Most agencies will not tell you that European expansion is often sold as an easy revenue multiplier when it is closer to a second launch. New reviews, new rank, new advertising history, new customer expectations. The listing copies across in a few clicks, which creates the illusion that the launch does too. It does not, and a poorly localized German listing sitting at a weak rating drags on the brand rather than adding to it.

The second thing: expansion frequently gets recommended when the home marketplace is stalling. That is precisely the wrong moment. If a product is not converting where you already have reviews and rank, adding a market adds a second problem rather than solving the first.
