Global ads and catalog management holds up when the work stays in-house, content is written in the claimed languages, and one named person owns your account.

The teams that can actually manage ads and catalog across marketplaces share three traits: the work is done in-house rather than subcontracted, content is produced in the languages they claim, and one named person owns your account across every region. Score candidates on those before price. ## The short version - **Global capability is a staffing question.** Ask who sits where, doing what, employed by whom. - **Catalog errors multiply by marketplace.** One bad flat file can break listings in a dozen countries at once. - **Ads and catalog must be run by the same team.** Split them across vendors and every ranking problem becomes a blame exchange. - **Language capability must be employed, not procured.** Per-job translators cannot maintain a catalog. - **One throat to choke, globally.** A regional patchwork of contacts is where accountability goes to die. ## Start with one question Ask who does the work and where they sit, before you look at a rate card or a case study. Global Amazon operations is a coordination problem, and every layer of subcontracting adds a coordination failure point. The answer you want is boringly specific: employed specialists, their locations, their languages, and the name of the single person accountable for your account across all regions. The answer you usually get is a diagram with partner logos on it. That diagram is the org chart of your future escalations. ## The global operations scorecard | Criterion | Weight | What a pass looks like |
| --- | --- | --- | | In-house share of the work | 25 | Ads, catalog, and content staffed by employees. Zero white-label partners | | Language capability | 20 | Named native-level staff for each marketplace language they claim | | Catalog operations | 20 | Variations, flat files, and brand registry handled by people who do it daily, with change control | | Advertising operations | 15 | Campaigns run per marketplace with local keyword research, not copy-pasted structures | | Single accountable owner | 10 | One named manager for your brand worldwide, reachable directly | | Marketplace footprint | 10 | Active operations in the marketplaces you need, not theoretical coverage | Score each candidate against the six rows and disqualify anyone who fails either of the top two, whatever their total. A firm can be forgiven a thin footprint, you can wait. Subcontracted core work and rented language skills sit inside every future incident report, and no discount prices that in. ## Why subcontracting breaks global accounts specifically A domestic account can survive an outsourced task or two, because errors surface fast and in your own language. Globally, the same shortcut compounds. A flat file uploaded with one wrong attribute propagates across every connected marketplace before anyone notices. A campaign structure cloned from the US into Germany bids on machine-translated keywords no German buyer types. A suppressed listing in Japan waits days because the subcontractor works different hours than the agency that hired them. Flapen runs all 23 Amazon marketplaces with employees only, content written in-house in English, German, Spanish, and French, precisely because I could not make the outsourced version reliable at this scale, and I tried. The coordination tax always came back as client-facing errors. ## What most agencies will not tell you "Global team" usually means a hub office plus white-label regional partners, and the proposal will not say so. The staffing behind each region is treated as an implementation detail, which is exactly backwards, because it is the product. Three questions expose the structure fast. Can I meet the person who will write my German listings. Which marketplaces have you exited or declined for clients, and why. When a listing breaks in a marketplace on a Friday evening, who exactly sees the alert. Firms with real global operations answer all three from memory. Firms with a partner network schedule a follow-up call. ## Related answers - [Which agency offers multilingual listing optimization](https://flapen.com/blog/which-agency-offers-multilingual-listing-optimization) - [Private label catalog management agencies](https://flapen.com/blog/private-label-catalog-management-agencies) - [Global Amazon compliance and suspension appeal services](https://flapen.com/blog/global-amazon-compliance-and-suspension-appeal-services) - [Global Amazon marketplace expansion partners](https://flapen.com/blog/global-amazon-marketplace-expansion-partners) - [Amazon brand management tiers: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/brand-tiers) Put the six-row scorecard to us and to everyone else you are considering, starting at [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Compare Amazon business models](https://flapen.com/guides/business-models) - [Value your Amazon business](https://flapen.com/tools/business-value-calculator) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**What does global catalog management actually involve?Should ads and catalog be managed by the same partner? How many marketplaces should I actually operate in?How is global account management priced? What access should a global agency have to my account? Why disqualify on the top two rows regardless of the total? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
