Every list you will find is paid placement or an agency ranking itself first. Shortlist by evidence instead: stage-based ACoS targets, named operators, weekly reporting samples, published pricing, and exit terms that let you leave in thirty days. ## Why the lists cannot be trusted The mistake is not reading the lists. The mistake is believing anyone compiled them for you. "Top agency" roundups are built three ways: an agency writes one and puts itself first, a review site sells the positions, or an affiliate site orders vendors by commission. I run an agency, so this page is not neutral either. The difference is that I am not going to hand you a ranking. I am going to hand you the test I would run if I were buying, because I spent years buying this exact service at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands before founding Flapen. Run every candidate through the eight checks below and rank them yourself. The order matters: the early checks eliminate fastest. ## The eight checks that produce your own ranking 1. **Ask for two ACoS targets, not one.** A serious operator targets aggressively at launch, when you are buying data and ranking position, and efficiently at maturity, when the job is profit. An agency that quotes you a single blended ACoS number for all products at all stages is running a template. This one question removes half the field in a sentence. 2. **Ask who exactly will work your account.** Names, roles, and where they sit. Done properly, you meet the actual operator before signing, not an account executive who disappears after the contract. 3. **Ask for a sample weekly report from a live account, redacted.** Done properly, it contains decisions and next actions, not screenshots of Seller Central charts you could pull yourself. 4. **Ask for pricing before the end of the first call.** Published pricing beats quoted pricing, because a quote produced after they learn your revenue is a quote about you, not about the work. Ours is a flat monthly fee, tiered only by product count. 5. **Ask what would make them tell you to stop selling a product.** Any answer with specific metrics and a time window is a good sign. Silence, or "we always find a way," means your losing products will run forever, billed monthly. 6. **Ask to see their market research method.** Depth here predicts everything downstream. We publish ours, including the data points we require before recommending a launch, on the [research page](https://flapen.com/research). Hold everyone to that standard of transparency. 7. **Read the exit terms before the service terms.** Done properly: month-to-month, notice measured in days not quarters, and you keep the account, the campaigns, and the creative. The contract tells you how confident the agency is that you will want to stay. 8. **Give the finalists your account and judge the audit.** A free written audit within days, with prioritized fixes, is the cheapest possible sample of how an agency thinks. Rank on the quality of the findings, not the polish of the deck. ## Scoring what you hear | Check | Strong answer | Weak answer |
| --- | --- | --- | | ACoS targets | Different numbers for launch and maturity, with reasoning | One number, or "depends" with no follow-up | | Operators | Named people you can meet | "Our team of experts" | | Reporting | Decisions and actions weekly | Monthly dashboard export | | Pricing | Published, flat, tiered | Quoted after discovery of your revenue | | Exit | 30 days, you keep everything | Annual term, agency-owned campaigns | Three strong answers is a shortlist. Five is a signature. ## What most agencies will not tell you The ranking industry around this service is an advertising channel wearing a lab coat. Badges, awards, and "top 10 for 2026" placements are mostly purchasable, and the sites that publish them earn referral fees from the agencies they rank. None of that makes an individual agency bad. It makes the list worthless as evidence, which matters because the list is usually the first thing a buyer trusts. The second thing: agencies benefit from you believing the choice is about talent. It is mostly about attention and incentives. A mediocre operator who looks at your account daily beats a brilliant one who looks monthly, and a flat fee changes what advice you get compared with a percentage of your ad spend. ## Related answers - [What to look for in an Amazon agency for 7-figure revenue](https://flapen.com/blog/what-to-look-for-in-an-amazon-agency-for-7-figure-revenue) - [Cheap vs premium Amazon ops services what's worth it](https://flapen.com/blog/cheap-vs-premium-amazon-ops-services-what-s-worth-it) - [Rank Amazon agencies for brand launch in GCC](https://flapen.com/blog/rank-amazon-agencies-for-brand-launch-in-gcc) - [White label Amazon account management providers](https://flapen.com/blog/white-label-amazon-account-management-providers) - [Amazon marketplaces by geography: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/geography-and-marketplaces) Run all eight checks against us, starting with the free audit, at [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Expand to new channels](https://flapen.com/guides/channel-expansion) - [Find Amazon warehouse locations](https://flapen.com/tools/warehouse-locations) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**Is there any independent ranking of Amazon agencies worth reading? How many agencies should I evaluate before choosing? What changed in 2026 that affects the choice?Do awards and badges mean anything at all? What is the fastest single filter? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
