![Flapen cover for The Barcode Group vs Flapen for Full-Service Amazon Management: a Flapen operator marking milestones on a blank wall calendar at a sample table](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fblog%2Fclusters%2Froadmaps-and-capital-02.jpg&w=1536&q=100) The Barcode Group presents itself on its website as an omnichannel retail growth partner, with broker work at Costco and services naming Walmart. Flapen employs 50 operators, sources and launches brands, and runs the Amazon account against ACoS targets set by product stage. Six questions separate the two models. ## The short version - **The Barcode Group writes about retail placement.** Its captured pages carry a Costco page, and the services its site names include Walmart. - **Amazon does not appear on either captured page.** Both were captured on 5 September 2026. - **A heading states a combined $750M in annual sales at Costco.** That figure describes sales, not a fee. - **Flapen publishes the ratio behind attention.** 50 operators, about 70 brands, about 1.4 each. - **Flapen sets a launch ACoS and a maturity ACoS.** One target for every stage is where an ad budget leaks. ## What The Barcode Group says it offers Everything in this section comes from two pages on thebarcodegroup.com, captured on 5 September 2026. The home page headline reads that your growth is delivered. Its meta description states omnichannel growth, higher sales, retail access, and scaling on data-driven strategy. A section under it states that retail success takes more than great products, and that it demands precision, insight, and exclusive connections. Four short headings organize what that page sells: sales plus profit, focused partnership, knowing what you do not know, and seeing around corners. Another states that the company delivers creative solutions powered by data. One heading states that finding the retail expertise you need should never feel like a bad blind date. The second captured page is titled Costco, and its headline states a trusted partner for growth at Costco. A heading on it states twenty years of growth with Costco, driving a combined $750M in annual sales. Its meta description names a proven broker, expert placement, and strategies that drive member trust and growth. That page then lays out what it calls the six rights of Costco: right product, right price, right place, right quantity, right time, and right condition. Other headings state that Costco members trust in value, and that the team brings a laser focus. A further heading covers other retailers and retail channels it serves. The services its site names include Walmart and creative work, and the marketplace it names is Walmart, as of September 2026. Neither captured page names Amazon. Neither states a fee, a partner badge, or a founding year. Its own articles point the same way. They cover choosing the right products for a Walmart open call pitch, preparing for the Walmart open call, and structuring a sales team to sell across several retailers. Both pages also offer a newsletter and a library of past reports in return for an email address. ## What Flapen offers We publish a ratio instead of a headcount. About 70 brands, divided across 50 operators on our own payroll, is about 1.4 brands each. Sourcing and quality control sit in our Guangzhou studio, creative in our Dubai studio, and our engineers write the software. One price carries all 50+ services at every tier, from $800 to $2,400 a month, with no commission. Notice runs 30 days, and you leave with the account, the campaigns and the creative, which is [Amazon brand management](https://flapen.com/amazon-brand-management). [Our system](https://flapen.com/system) publishes five steps: market, product, traffic, plan, launch. A market under $2 million a year does not get quoted. A product is engineered for 0.2 stars above the niche average. Validation goes live on 200 units and $5,000 to $10,000. [Our science](https://flapen.com/science) scored 193,753 niches at the 2026-08-26 capture, of which 4.8% passed. Advertising runs on tools we built, against ACoS targets that move with the product stage, on the data layer [our platform](https://flapen.com/flapen-ai) serves to 15,000 sellers a month. The agents that take action ship next. ## Side by side | | Flapen | The Barcode Group |

Not published means those pages do not state it. ## Where The Barcode Group may be the right fit Fit follows what a company states it sells, and this section is about fit alone. Its captured pages are built around retail placement, with a page given to Costco and articles on preparing for the Walmart open call. A brand whose next dollar of growth comes off a retailer's shelf rather than a search result is reading a company that writes about that shelf. The same reading holds for a seller already on Amazon who wants distribution beyond it. Broker work, retail placement, and the six rights of Costco are the language of that project. Ask how the Amazon channel is staffed alongside it, because the captured pages do not say. ## A brand we launched and run [GrillX](https://flapen.com/results/grillx) is a brand we built, launched and still run. Its page states that Flapen manages the brand on Amazon, from the ad account down to the freight quotes. The headline figure there is ACoS 88% to 32%. The outcome sentence reads: _The worst-performing ad line rebuilt into a keeper, while sea freight negotiated to $1.04/kg kept the landed cost honest._## How to test both of us Send these six questions in writing to every company on your list, mine included. | Symptom | The usual cause | The question to send |
| --- | --- | --- | | Month twelve ACoS reads like launch week | One target for every stage | What ACoS at launch, and what at maturity? | | Replies take three days | More brands than hours | How many brands does that person carry? | | Quality swings between deliverables | Parts of the account are subcontracted | Who does the work, and where do they sit? | | Budget goes in, nothing comes back | Nobody owns the stop decision | What makes you tell me to stop, and when? | | The invoice grows with ad spend | The fee is priced off spend | Flat fee, share of sales, or tied to spend? | | Leaving feels risky | Access was never written down as yours | What do I keep on exit, and on what notice? | A specific answer counts and a general one does not. If Flapen does not clear your version of this test, do not hire us. ## What most agencies will not tell you One agency's page about another is not evidence, so here is the same diagnosis run on my own company. | What you see | What is happening | Who can fix it |
| --- | --- | --- | | One ACoS target on every report line | Product stage never entered the plan | Whoever owns the ad account, in writing | | A report that never says stop | The stop decision has no owner | A contract naming the four signals | | Attention thins after month three | The roster grew, the payroll did not | The published ratio, asked for in month six | The stop decision costs the most and shows up the latest. We read four signals across 60 to 90 days: rating trend, return rate, conversion rate, and the direction of customer acquisition cost. ## The Barcode Group alternatives Four structures cover this decision. Full service puts one team on the whole Amazon account for a monthly fee, and a specialist takes one function, most often the ad account. An in-house hire moves the knowledge and the risk onto your payroll. A platform sells you the data and leaves the doing to you. ## Related answersGo deeper [~~Growisto vs Flapen~~](https://flapen.com/blog/growisto-vs-flapen)· [~~WAKE Commerce vs Flapen~~](https://flapen.com/blog/wake-commerce-vs-flapen)· [~~Amazon agency vs in-house team, pros and cons~~](https://flapen.com/blog/amazon-agency-vs-in-house-team-pros-and-cons)· [~~Switching Amazon agency without losing momentum~~](https://flapen.com/blog/switching-amazon-agency-without-losing-momentum)· [~~Flapen compared with other Amazon agencies: the complete guide~~](https://flapen.com/blog/flapen-vs-other-amazon-agencies) ## Sources - [Home, The Barcode Group](https://thebarcodegroup.com/) - [Costco, The Barcode Group](https://thebarcodegroup.com/retailer/costco/) Last verified 5 September 2026.
