No honest worldwide ranking of Amazon video companies exists, so score them yourself on payback, cost per finished video against the revenue it can move.

Rank them yourself on economics: cost per finished video measured against the revenue that video can realistically move at your product's stage. The arithmetic takes ten minutes per quote. ## The short version - **Every "top 10 Amazon video companies" list is a sales channel.** Somebody paid to be on it, or the list exists to sell the ranker's own service. - **Rank on payback, not on showreel.** The showreel shows their best day. The payback math shows your outcome. - **The right spend depends on your stage.** Validation-stage products should not carry premium production budgets. - **Worldwide matters less than you think.** Video is shipped over the internet. Judge the process, not the postcode. - **Whoever asks about your market before your budget goes to the top of your list.**## The mistake that funds this industry Sellers buy the showreel. A production company screens its most cinematic work, the seller imagines their product looking like that, and a four-figure invoice follows for a video that plays muted, in a thumbnail, to a shopper who gives it two seconds. The gap between what the showreel sells and what the placement needs is where most video budgets die. So ignore the reel on the first pass and rank every candidate on numbers they can defend. ## The payback arithmetic Rank each quote with the same worked example. Say your listing gets 4,000 sessions a month, converts at 10 percent, and earns you a 25 percent margin on a $30 product. That is 400 orders and $3,000 of monthly margin. Now assume a good video lifts conversion by a single point, to 11 percent. That is 40 extra orders, worth $300 of margin per month, and the video pays back a $1,800 invoice in six months. Run the same three lines with your own numbers, then rank every company by months to payback at a conservative conversion lift. | Input | Where to get it | Why it decides the ranking |
| --- | --- | --- | | Monthly sessions | Seller Central business reports | Video cannot lift traffic it never receives | | Conversion rate today | Same report | The base the lift applies to | | Margin per unit | Your own P&L | Converts a conversion lift into cash | | Quoted cost, all revisions in | The written proposal | The number the payback must clear | | Assumed lift | Your judgment, kept conservative | The honesty test for the whole exercise | Two consequences fall out of this table. First, an expensive company can rank first when your volume is high, because the same lift pays back faster on more sessions. Second, on a low-traffic listing, no production company ranks well, and the honest answer is to fix traffic and [listing optimization](https://flapen.com/amazon-listing-optimization) before buying video at all. ## Stage decides the budget class We size a market before we spend a dollar on it, our floor is **$2 million per year in market size**, and we validate with a first run of about 200 units and $5,000 to $10,000 before committing real capital. Video spending follows the same discipline. A product still in validation gets phone footage and a clean edit, because the data may tell you to kill it in a quarter. Premium production belongs to products that have already proven rating, conversion, and acquisition cost. Any company that quotes you a flagship video without asking what stage the product is in has ranked itself. ## What production companies will not tell you The bulk of their cost sits in things Amazon shoppers never notice. Location days, cinema glass, color pipelines, and sound design all show up on the invoice, and almost none of it survives compression into a muted autoplay window on a phone. You are often paying for the portfolio piece they want, not the selling tool you need. They also will not volunteer their revision terms. Ask what a second round of changes costs and how long it takes, because that clause quietly reorders any ranking you have made on price alone. ## Related answers - [Top agencies for Amazon product videos ranked](https://flapen.com/blog/top-agencies-for-amazon-product-videos-ranked) - [Alternatives to big-name Amazon video studios](https://flapen.com/blog/alternatives-to-big-name-amazon-video-studios) - [Step-by-step workflow to produce Amazon listing videos](https://flapen.com/blog/step-by-step-workflow-to-produce-amazon-listing-videos) - [Rank product photography services for ecommerce](https://flapen.com/blog/rank-product-photography-services-for-ecommerce) - [Amazon creative services: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/creative-services) Run this same payback arithmetic on any quote you receive, including one from [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Optimize the listing](https://flapen.com/guides/listing-optimization) - [Run the review math](https://flapen.com/tools/review-calculator) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**Are the "best Amazon video company" rankings online trustworthy? How much should an Amazon product video cost?Does the production company need to be in my country? What should I ask before signing with any video company? Is a cheap video ever the right call? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
