It answers the objections that stop people buying: fit, size, materials, compatibility, and what the photos cannot show. Write it from competitor negative reviews and your own returns, publish it, then change one module at a time. ## The short version - **A+ content is an objection handler**, not a brand mood board. - **Your source material is other people's one star reviews**, plus every question a buyer asks you directly. - **Publish complete, then iterate singly.** Changing four modules at once tells you nothing about which one worked. - **Mobile is the real layout.** Most buyers see a narrow column, not your desktop mockup. - **If conversion is broken above the fold, A+ content is the wrong repair.** Fix the image, title, price, and rating first. ## The situation most sellers are in at week three Traffic is arriving. Sessions look reasonable. Orders do not match. The instinct is to rebuild the A+ content, because it is the part of the page you fully control and the part that looks least polished next to established brands. Sometimes that instinct is right. Often it is an expensive detour, because the page is losing buyers before they scroll that far. A+ modules sit below the fold, which means they influence the shopper who is already interested and considering, not the one who bounced from the search results. Knowing which shopper you are losing determines whether the fix is worth a month of your attention. ## Diagnose before you design | Symptom | Likely cause | Who fixes it |
| --- | --- | --- | | High impressions, low click-through | Main image, title, price, or rating count | Creative and pricing, not A+ content | | Good click-through, low conversion, few returns | Unanswered objections below the fold | A+ content and the image set, directly | | Good conversion, high return rate | Expectation mismatch on size, fit, or contents | A+ content plus packaging and the product itself | | Buyers asking the same question repeatedly | A missing module, usually specification or compatibility | A+ content, immediately, that week | | Mobile conversion far below desktop | Modules built for a wide layout | Creative rebuild for the narrow column | | Traffic from irrelevant search terms | Keyword targeting, not content | Advertising and back end terms | | Conversion fine, sales flat | Visibility, not persuasion | Advertising and ranking work | Two rows in that table send you somewhere other than A+ content. That is the point of running the diagnostic first. In the first month, attention is the scarcest resource you have, and rebuilding modules is a satisfying way to avoid a harder conversation about price or product. ## What to build, in priority order 1. **The objection module.** Take the three complaints that repeat in the negative reviews of the leading listings in your category, and answer them explicitly with an image and a sentence. This is the highest value module and almost nobody builds it first. 2. **The specification module.** Dimensions, materials, contents, compatibility, and anything a buyer would otherwise have to guess at. Guessing produces returns. 3. **The comparison module.** Your variants side by side, so a shopper who is nearly convinced chooses the right one instead of leaving to think about it. 4. **The use case module.** Where and how the product is used, shown rather than described, because scale and context are what static photos lose. 5. **The brand module.** Who you are and why the product exists. Useful, and last, because it converts the fewest people. Differentiation for all five comes from the same place: what buyers already complain about in your category, and the gap between the rating of the leaders and the middle of the pack. It does not come from inventing a feature and hoping the market wants it. ## The lesson that became our stop rule Before Flapen, I spent three months pouring money into a product that was not working, convinced that better creative and more advertising would turn it around. They did not. The listing got prettier every fortnight and the underlying numbers never moved. What that bought me was a rule I now apply to every brand in the about 70 we manage: decide in advance what would make you stop. Rating trend, return rate, conversion rate, and the trajectory of acquisition cost, measured over a defined window. A+ content is a fix lever, and fix levers are only worth pulling when the diagnosis says the problem is persuasion. When the numbers say the problem is the product, no module rescues it. Ask any agency what would make them tell you to stop. If they have no answer, they will sell you creative rounds for as long as you keep paying for them. Ask us too, and hold our answer to the same standard. ## What most agencies will not tell you Creative work is the easiest line item to sell and the hardest to hold accountable. It produces something visible, it feels like progress, and nobody argues with a nicer page. What most agencies will not tell you is that A+ content should be measured, not admired. Publish a version, leave it alone long enough to accumulate readable data, change one module, and compare. If a partner cannot tell you which module they changed and what happened to conversion afterwards, they are not optimizing anything. They are redecorating on a schedule. The second thing: A+ content requires Brand Registry, and Brand Registry requires a trademark, which has its own timeline. If nobody raised that with you before month one, the plan was written by somebody who has not launched recently. ## Related answers - [Rank a new Amazon listing fast without reviews](https://flapen.com/blog/rank-new-amazon-listing-fast-without-reviews) - [What to do before sending inventory to FBA](https://flapen.com/blog/what-to-do-before-sending-inventory-to-fba) - [Keyword research workflow for Amazon newbies](https://flapen.com/blog/keyword-research-workflow-for-amazon-newbies) - [How to test product-market fit on Amazon](https://flapen.com/blog/how-to-test-product-market-fit-on-amazon) - [Amazon launch services: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/launch-services) Send us your listing and we will tell you whether the problem is below the fold, at [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Plan the product launch](https://flapen.com/guides/product-launch) - [Estimate your launch cost](https://flapen.com/tools/launch-cost-calculator) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**How soon should A+ content go live? How do I know if my A+ content is working? What should A+ content never do?Do I need Brand Registry for A+ content?Should I redo A+ content if sales are slow? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
