It costs more than a one-off build in month one and less by month six.","Managed means the storefront is owned continuously by the team running your account, with revisions included rather than quoted. It costs more than a one-off build in month one and less by month six, because the expensive part of Amazon creative is not the first version. It is every version after it.

## The number that decides this

Count the revisions. A storefront built once and never touched is a project. A storefront that gets a new module when a competitor changes their page, a seasonal hero when a promotion runs, a fresh set of lifestyle images when the return reasons change, and a translated variant when you open a new marketplace, is a service. Somewhere between the third and fourth change, per-asset pricing stops being cheaper than an included scope, and the direction of the arithmetic never reverses after that.

So before comparing quotes, write down how many changes your storefront needed in the last twelve months. If the honest answer is zero, that is also information: either your category is unusually static, or nobody has been watching.

## The cost structure, laid out

| Cost line | One-off project | Managed engagement |
|---|---|---|
| Initial build | Quoted per page or per module | Included in the monthly fee |
| Revisions | Quoted each time, usually with a minimum | Included, so nobody hesitates to make them |
| New product added to the store | New scope, new brief, new timeline | Part of the ongoing catalog work |
| Localization for another marketplace | Per language, per page | Included where the team produces in that language |
| Performance review | Rarely included, and often impossible without account access | Built into the weekly reporting |
| Speed of a small change | Days to weeks, plus approval cycles | Same week, because the team is already in the account |

The line that surprises people is the revision row. Under project pricing, a small improvement carries friction: a brief, a quote, an approval, a wait. Friction means the improvement does not happen. The real cost of per-asset pricing is not the invoice, it is the changes you talked yourself out of.

## What the fee should include

Our flat fee runs $800 a month for one product through to $2,400 for five, and every tier carries the full service set, storefront and creative included, with no commission, no revenue share, and no onboarding fee. The first invoice covers the first and last month upfront. Six products or more, we scope on a call.

What is never included, at any agency worth hiring: your inventory, Amazon's own fees, freight, trademark filing, and advertising spend. If a storefront proposal does not separate the fee from those pass-through costs, ask for one that does before you compare it to anything.

## Where the strategy part actually lives

Storefront work becomes strategy in three places, and design vendors rarely reach any of them.

- **External traffic.** A store page is the natural landing destination for off-channel traffic, so its structure should be built around where visitors arrive from, not around a brand narrative.
- **Cross-sell architecture.** Which product leads, what sits next to it, and what a repeat buyer sees are merchandising decisions with revenue attached.
- **Category convention.** Buyers in each category rely on specific visual cues to compare. Ignoring those cues to look distinctive is the most expensive kind of good taste.

All three require reading the account data, which is why the design decision and the account decision are really the same decision.

## Ask who does the work and where they sit

This is the question I would put first, before price. Creative capability is frequently resold. An agency wins the account, a studio wins the work, a freelancer wins the file, and by the time you ask for a revision there are three queues between you and the person holding the source files.

We do not subcontract any of it. Our creative team works from an in-house studio in Dubai, sourcing runs from our own studio in Guangzhou, and everything else sits with our own operators. Whether you hire us or someone else, get the answer in writing: who employs the designer, in which city, and what happens to the source files when the relationship ends. Under our terms, deliverables become client IP on full payment and leave with you, alongside a written handover.

## What storefront vendors will not tell you

A storefront is one of the lowest-traffic assets you own. Most shoppers reach a product page directly and never visit it, which means a beautiful store with a weak primary image on the product page is money spent in the wrong order. A vendor who only sells storefronts has no commercial reason to tell you that the image test matters more this quarter.

The second omission: revision minimums. Ask what the smallest possible change costs and how long it takes. That number, not the build price, is what you will be paying for two years.

## Related answers

- [Amazon store setup and A+ content services](/blog/amazon-store-setup-and-a-content-services)
- [Fair Amazon agency pricing models](/blog/fair-amazon-agency-pricing-models)
- [Alternatives to big network agencies for marketplace management](/blog/alternatives-to-big-network-agencies-for-marketplace-management)
- [How to choose an Amazon FBA marketing partner](/blog/how-to-choose-an-amazon-fba-marketing-partner)
- [Build vs buy for your Amazon channel: the complete guide](/blog/build-vs-buy)

Compare included creative against your current per-asset quotes at [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Compare Amazon business models](/guides/business-models)
- [Value your Amazon business](/tools/business-value-calculator)
","published","working-with-agencies",[14,15,16,17],"product-images","listing-setup","fees","off-channel","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/build-vs-buy-03.jpg","2026-09-04T04:57:51.798+00:00
[23,27,31,35,39
"managed-amazon-storefront-design-and-strategy-faq-1","It depends on change frequency, not catalog size.
