Below it, take the free audit and execute yourself.","Usually yes above about $10,000 a month in revenue, and usually no below it. At $800 a month for one product, the fee needs to buy back either meaningful profit or meaningful time. On a validated SKU doing $15,000 a month it does. On an unvalidated one doing $2,000 it does not.

## The short version

- **Rough threshold: $10,000 a month in revenue** on a validated single SKU.
- **$800 a month is our single-product tier,** all services included.
- **Below the threshold, buy the audit and execute yourself.**
- **Never buy management for an unvalidated product.**
- **A single SKU has a ceiling.** Management does not remove it.

## The arithmetic

I run Flapen with 50 operators managing about 70 brands. Our single-product tier is $800 a month, and the honest test is what that $800 has to produce.

| Monthly revenue | Fee as % of revenue | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| $2,000 | 40% | No. Validate first |
| $5,000 | 16% | Marginal. Buy the audit instead |
| $10,000 | 8% | Threshold. Depends on your time |
| $20,000 | 4% | Yes, if the SKU is validated |
| $50,000 | 1.6% | Yes, clearly |

The percentages are a rough guide, not a rule, because the real question is what the fee replaces. At $10,000 a month, management needs to produce about a 10 percent improvement in contribution margin, or save you enough hours to be worth $800, to break even. Both are achievable on a validated product and neither is achievable on a broken one.

## What a single SKU changes

Three things worth understanding before you decide.

**The ceiling is real.** One product in one market has a maximum, set by market size and your share of it. We use a $2 million per year minimum market size as an entry floor. Management can help you capture more of a market. It cannot make the market bigger.

**Fixed costs do not scale down.** Much of the work in managing an Amazon brand is per-account rather than per-product: account health, Brand Registry, inventory planning, reporting. A single SKU carries all of that overhead alone, which is why the per-product cost falls as you add products. Our tiers run $800 for one, $1,150 for two, $1,500 for three, $1,950 for four, and $2,400 for five.

**Diversification is a real benefit of management.** If the plan is to reach three or four products, buying management at one product is buying the research and sourcing capability that gets you there.

## When the answer is clearly no

**The product is not validated.** Phase 1 is validation: 200 units, $5,000 to $10,000, up to four products tested at once. Management belongs in Phase 2, once rating, conversion rate, and cost of customer acquisition are proven. Paying someone to optimize an unvalidated product is optimizing a guess.

**Ad spend is under $1,000 a month.** Not enough data for meaningful optimization.

**You know exactly what is broken and it is one thing.** Hire a specialist for that thing.

**You enjoy operating and have the time.** Full management buys back about the difference between running it yourself and about 2 hours a month. If your hours are not scarce, that trade is worse.

## When the answer is clearly yes

The SKU is validated and growing, you are time-constrained, and you intend to add products. That combination is where the fee pays for itself twice, once in execution and once in the research that finds product two.

The other clear case: a validated SKU where you know the constraint is outside your skill. Sourcing and quality control, or creative production, are both hard to do remotely and expensive to get wrong. We run sourcing and quality control through a Guangzhou studio and creative through a Dubai studio, both in-house, across 500 plus brands.

## What most agencies will not tell you

An agency will rarely tell a single-SKU seller that the honest answer is not yet. The incentive runs the other way and $800 a month is easy to say yes to.

Here is the version I would want if I were buying. Run the arithmetic above. If the fee is more than about 10 percent of revenue, the product needs to grow before management makes sense, and the fastest way to grow it is usually a free audit plus a weekend of your own work on the primary image and the listing.

The other quiet thing: a single SKU is a fragile business regardless of who manages it. One policy change, one supplier problem, or one aggressive competitor and the whole thing is exposed. If you have budget for either management or a second product validation, the second product is usually the better risk decision.

## Related answers

- [Affordable Amazon account management for startups](/blog/affordable-amazon-account-management-for-startups)
- [Amazon FBA agency for beginners](/blog/amazon-fba-agency-for-beginners)
- [Amazon agency vs freelancer pros and cons](/blog/amazon-agency-vs-freelancer-pros-and-cons)
- [Fair Amazon agency pricing models](/blog/fair-amazon-agency-pricing-models)
- [Hiring an Amazon agency: the complete guide](/blog/hiring-an-agency)

If the numbers say not yet, we will tell you.
