Require same-business-day response and weekly prevention.","A competent agency writes a plan of action containing root cause, immediate corrective action,
and preventive measures, then files it the same business day. Ask to see a redacted one. The
document is the capability, and most agencies that list appeals in their scope have never
written a good one.

## The short version

- **A plan of action has three parts:** root cause, corrective action, preventive measures.
- **Same business day** for anything account-threatening.
- **Ask to see a redacted plan of action.** The document is the proof.
- **Prevention is the real service.** Appeals are the failure case.
- **Confirm they use your permissions,** never shared credentials.

## What a plan of action actually contains

I run Flapen with 50 operators managing about 70 brands, with account health
monitoring, case management, and suspension and listing appeals included in every membership.

| Section | What Amazon wants | Common failure |
|---|---|---|
| Root cause | The specific, honest reason it happened | Vague or defensive |
| Immediate corrective action | What you have already done | Promises rather than completed actions |
| Preventive measures | Systemic change stopping recurrence | Generic "we will monitor more closely" |
| Supporting evidence | Invoices, certificates, documentation | Missing or mismatched |
| Tone | Factual, accountable, brief | Argumentative or emotional |

The section that decides most outcomes is preventive measures. Amazon is assessing whether the
problem will recur, so a plan that describes a systemic change carries weight and one that
promises vigilance does not.

The other frequent failure is arguing. An appeal that disputes whether Amazon was right,
however justified, tends to perform worse than one that accepts the finding and describes the
fix.

## Response time matters more than eloquence

Every hour a listing stays suppressed, it loses ranking. Every day an account stays suspended,
inventory sits idle and competitors take the traffic.

Ask for a response-time commitment by severity. Account-threatening issues, meaning
suspensions, suppressed listings, Buy Box loss, or policy notices, need a same-business-day
commitment. Routine questions can run longer.

Also ask what happens outside business hours and how business days are defined when the team
sits in a different time zone. That ambiguity is where most disputes about responsiveness
begin.

## Prevention is the actual service

Appeals are the failure case. What you are really buying is the work that means you rarely
need one.

That means weekly account health review rather than reactive checking, monitoring for
unauthorised sellers and listing hijacks, keeping compliance documentation current before it
is requested, and knowing the category rules before listing rather than after inventory
ships.

Ask what they check weekly and ask to see it in the report, including when nothing was found.
A line saying nothing found is proof somebody looked, which is the only way preventive work
becomes visible.

## Compliance beyond suspensions

Compliance is broader than account health and gets thinner attention.

Product compliance and certifications vary by category and by marketplace, and a compliant
listing in one country can be non-compliant in another. Restricted and gated categories need
approval before inventory arrives, not after. Documentation such as invoices, test reports,
and certificates needs to be current and to match your registered entity exactly.

Ask who owns compliance in their process and whether it is handled in-house or coordinated
with specialists. Both are acceptable answers. Silence is not.

## What most agencies will not tell you

Almost every agency lists suspension appeals in its scope, and relatively few have written
many successful plans of action. The skill is uncommon because most accounts, thankfully,
never need it.

That is why the redacted document request is the whole test. Ask to see a plan of action they
filed, with client details removed. A team with the capability produces one quickly. A team
listing the capability produces an explanation of their process.

The second thing: how they access your account is a compliance question in itself. Agencies
working from shared credentials across multiple sellers create exactly the pattern Amazon uses
to link accounts, and linked accounts can be suspended together. The correct structure is
individual user permissions you grant and can revoke, which is how we work.

## Related answers

- [How to vet Amazon case management and appeals support](/blog/how-to-vet-amazon-case-management-and-appeals-support)
- [How to avoid Amazon suspension when starting out](/blog/how-to-avoid-amazon-suspension-when-starting-out)
- [Questions about brand protection and review strategy](/blog/questions-about-brand-protection-and-review-strategy)
- [Amazon Brand Registry support expectations](/blog/amazon-brand-registry-support-expectations)
- [Hiring an Amazon agency: the complete guide](/blog/hiring-an-agency)

Ask us for a redacted plan of action.
