Ad spend only amplifies what the listing already does.","A full-funnel audit examines everything that turns a visitor into a buyer: listing quality, primary image CTR, conversion rate, pricing, traffic channel activation, return rate, and ad performance. A PPC-only audit examines the last of those. Choose full-funnel, because advertising multiplies whatever your listing already does, including the problems.

## The short version

- **Ad spend amplifies the listing.** A campaign-only audit optimizes the delivery of traffic to a page that may not be able to convert it.
- **Seven areas, not one.** Listing quality, primary image CTR, conversion rate, ad performance, traffic activation, pricing, and return rate.
- **A conversion fix pays twice.** It improves every session, paid and organic. A bid fix improves only the paid ones.
- **PPC-only audits are cheap to produce.** That is exactly why they are the standard free giveaway in this industry.
- **Ask about auditor workload.** Depth depends on attention. Our operators carry about 1.4 brands each, and it shows in the reports.

## What each audit actually inspects

| Funnel area | PPC-only audit | Full-funnel audit |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign structure and bids | Yes | Yes |
| Search term waste and negatives | Yes | Yes |
| Listing copy and keyword coverage | No | Yes |
| Primary image click-through rate | No | Yes |
| Conversion rate by ASIN | No | Yes |
| Pricing position in the segment | No | Yes |
| Return rate and its causes | No | Yes |
| Traffic sources beyond paid search | No | Yes |

The table is the whole argument. An account is a funnel: a shopper searches, sees your primary image, clicks, reads the listing, checks the price, buys or leaves, and occasionally sends the product back. Advertising controls the first step. A PPC-only audit inspects one stage of a seven-stage machine and then reports on the machine as if it had seen all of it.

## The arithmetic that decides it

Work a simple illustration. Say a product spends $1,000 a month on ads, which is the floor we recommend before optimization becomes meaningful, and earns half its sessions organically. A campaign cleanup that trims wasted spend improves the paid half of the funnel by some margin. A conversion improvement of the same size improves both halves at once, and it keeps paying after the audit is forgotten, because organic rank follows conversion.

That asymmetry is why the economics favor the full-funnel version even though it costs more to produce. The cheapest audit to deliver is a screenshot of your campaign manager with arrows on it. The most valuable one starts with your listing, because that is where the compounding lives.

There is a second, quieter economic point. A PPC-only audit can only ever recommend PPC work, so whoever wrote it will find PPC problems. A full-funnel audit is free to conclude that your campaigns are fine and your primary image is the constraint, which is usually a cheaper fix and a bigger lever. Most of the prioritized fixes we hand clients land in the listing itself, which is the work our [listing optimization](/amazon-listing-optimization) team exists to do.

## Who runs the audit matters as much as scope

Flapen holds the ratio at about 1.4 brands per operator, 50 operators across some 70 brands under management. I protect that number because audit depth is a function of attention, not template quality. When you evaluate any audit provider, ask how many accounts the person writing your report carries. The answer predicts the report better than the sample PDF does.

Ours is free: a written report with prioritized fixes, delivered within 48 hours. I publish that deadline because an audit that arrives in three weeks describes an account that no longer exists.

## What a PPC-only audit will not tell you

It will not tell you why your ACoS resists improvement, because the usual reasons live outside the campaign manager: a primary image that loses the click, a price sitting above the segment, copy that never answers the buyer's actual objection, a return rate quietly eating margin. It also cannot answer the harder question of whether the product deserves more spend at all. A campaign can be perfectly tuned on a product that should be reworked or retired, and the audit that only looks at campaigns will grade it an A.

## Related answers

- [How to audit an Amazon agency report](/blog/how-to-audit-an-amazon-agency-report)
- [Alternatives to generic agency audits for Amazon](/blog/alternatives-to-generic-agency-audits-for-amazon)
- [Best audit for Amazon PPC structure and neg match](/blog/best-audit-for-amazon-ppc-structure-and-neg-match)
- [Amazon advertising KPIs that matter](/blog/amazon-advertising-kpis-that-matter)
- [Amazon creative services: the complete guide](/blog/creative-services)

The full-funnel version described here is the free 48-hour audit we run at [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Optimize the listing](/guides/listing-optimization)
- [Run the review math](/tools/review-calculator)
","published","listing-optimization",[14,15,16],"ppc","listing-setup","amazon-fba","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/creative-services-04.jpg","2026-09-04T12:18:51.798+00:00
[22,26,30,34,38
"full-funnel-amazon-audit-vs-ppc-only-audit-faq-1","Yes, in one narrow case: your listings already convert well and you have a specific, isolated campaign question.
