Registry unlocks A+ content, Vine, and brand analytics, so build after enrolling.","Run the checklist in this order: enroll the brand, lock the catalog, build the listing, then open advertising. Registry unlocks A+ content, Vine and brand analytics, and each one changes what a finished listing should look like. Building first and enrolling later means paying to make the same assets twice.

## The short version

- **Enrollment comes before creative.** Registry-only modules change the brief for copy, images and video.
- **Lock the catalog early.** Control over your own detail page is the whole point of enrolling.
- **Vine before ads.** Cold-start review count suppresses conversion, and conversion sets your advertising cost.
- **Advertising targets move by stage.** Your launch number and your maturity number are different, deliberately.
- **Every step below has a definition of done.** Vague completion is how launch weeks slip into launch quarters.

## The checklist

Each item lists what "done properly" means. If you cannot state the done condition, the item is not complete, it is merely started.

1. **Trademark filed and accepted.** Done means the mark is at a status Registry accepts, in the same territory as the marketplace you intend to sell in.
2. **Brand Registry enrollment approved.** Done means you can see brand-gated tooling inside Seller Central, not that you submitted the form.
3. **Brand accounts and roles set.** Done means user permissions are granted per person, revocable individually, with no shared logins anywhere.
4. **Catalog locked.** Done means your ASINs carry your brand attribute, variations are structured the way you intend to sell them, and nobody else can edit the page copy.
5. **Keyword set built from research, not intuition.** Done means a ranked list with a primary term, a secondary set, and terms explicitly excluded with a reason written next to them.
6. **Photography shot against the rating gap.** Done means the top three complaints in competitor negative reviews are visibly answered in the image stack.
7. **Copy and A+ modules published.** Done means the page reads correctly on a phone first, because that is where most of the traffic will land.
8. **Vine enrolled at launch inventory.** Done means units are allocated and enrolled before the first ad impression, not after the first slow week.
9. **Inventory landed with cover.** Done means enough units at the fulfillment center to survive the velocity you are about to buy, plus a reorder already placed.
10. **Advertising structured by intent.** Done means separate campaigns for exact, phrase and discovery, each with its own budget and its own target.
11. **Reporting cadence agreed.** Done means someone writes down what happened weekly and someone reviews it live every two weeks.

## Why the order matters more than the items

Most launch checklists you will find contain about these steps. The failures I see are almost never a missing item. They are items done in the wrong sequence, which forces rework.

| Step done too early | What it costs |
|---|---|
| Photography before competitor review analysis | A full reshoot once you learn what buyers actually complain about |
| Listing copy before keyword research | Rewritten bullets and a lost indexing head start |
| Advertising before Vine | Paying full acquisition cost against a zero-review page |
| Variation build after listings go live | Merged history, lost reviews and support cases |
| Scaling budget before inventory reorder | A stockout that erases the rank you just funded |

Our onboarding follows the same logic in miniature: audit first, then assign a brand manager, then identify the blockers, then execute. Sequence is the cheap part of any launch. Rework is the expensive part.

## The advertising target changes with the stage

This is the item most checklists get wrong, because they print a single ACoS number as if it were a constant. It is not. At launch you are buying position, data and velocity, so an aggressive target is correct and a high ACoS is the price of information. At maturity you are defending share profitably, so the same number would be a failure.

Ask any candidate agency for two figures: the ACoS they will run in launch weeks, and the ACoS they expect at maturity, with the date they plan to move between them. An agency that quotes one number for both has not thought about your product's life cycle. That gap between the two numbers, and the reasoning for the transition date, tells you more about their competence than any case study.

## What most agencies will not tell you

Brand Registry is not a ranking advantage. It is a control and tooling advantage. Enrollment does not make Amazon favor you in search, and any proposal that implies it does is selling a misunderstanding. What Registry buys you is the ability to fix your own page, defend it from hijackers, and use modules that lift conversion.

The second thing: much of this checklist is administrative work that any competent operator can do, and some agencies bill a separate onboarding fee for it. We do not charge one, and I would ask hard questions of any quote where the setup fee approaches a month of management. The value of an agency shows up in keyword selection, creative judgment and advertising discipline, not in filling out enrollment forms.

## Related answers

- [Timeline for Amazon FBA launch from sourcing to PPC](/blog/timeline-for-amazon-fba-launch-from-sourcing-to-ppc)
- [Pre-launch vs post-launch tasks Amazon](/blog/pre-launch-vs-post-launch-tasks-amazon)
- [Common delays in Amazon brand launches and how to avoid](/blog/common-delays-in-amazon-brand-launches-and-how-to-avoid)
- [What does a good Amazon account audit include](/blog/what-does-a-good-amazon-account-audit-include)
- [Amazon launch services: the complete guide](/blog/launch-services)

Send us your ASINs and we will grade the eleven items above against your account in writing, free, inside 48 hours at [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Plan the product launch](/guides/product-launch)
- [Estimate your launch cost](/tools/launch-cost-calculator)
","published","product-launch",[14,15,16,17],"brand-registry","listing-setup","ppc","vine","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/launch-services-06.jpg","2026-09-04T08:00:51.798+00:00
[23,27,31,35,39
"fba-launch-checklist-for-brand-registry-sellers-faq-1","You can, but you will rebuild.
