Brand Registry required. One pass saves a re-edit.","Strip anything Amazon can reject: prices, promotions, discount codes, external links or URLs, competitor names or comparisons, unverifiable superlatives like best or number one, health claims you cannot substantiate, and time-sensitive language. Upload requires Brand Registry. One compliance pass before render costs an hour. A rejection costs the re-edit and the wait.

## The short version

- **Nine recurring violations** account for nearly every rejected listing video, and all nine are checkable before the shoot.
- **Rejection is an economics problem.** The fee for the edit is the small part. The lost selling days are the large part.
- **Brand Registry comes first.** Without it, the finished file has nowhere to go.
- **Check the script, not the footage.** Almost every violation is written before it is filmed.
- **Assign an owner.** Compliance fails when it is everyone's job.

## The checklist, learned from the buying side

Before Flapen, I ran data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two large Amazon aggregators. We bought brands, inherited their agencies, and reviewed a steady stream of creative across the portfolio. Rejected videos crossed my desk often enough that a pattern emerged: the same handful of violations, over and over, from vendors who had made hundreds of videos and still shipped them.

Work through every line before anything is filmed.

1. **No pricing.** Not on screen, not spoken, not implied by a strikethrough.
2. **No promotions or urgency.** Discount codes, limited time, act now, all rejected.
3. **No external destinations.** URLs, QR codes, social handles, or any nudge off Amazon.
4. **No competitor references.** Names, logos, recognisable products, or side-by-side claims.
5. **No unverifiable superlatives.** Best, number one, top rated, unless you hold the specific substantiation.
6. **No unsubstantiated health or safety claims.** The fastest route to rejection in supplements, personal care, and children's categories.
7. **No review quotes or star ratings** rendered into the footage.
8. **No warranty or guarantee language** beyond what the listing lawfully states.
9. **Claims match the listing.** Every assertion in the video appears in the bullets or A+ content, word for word where possible.

## The arithmetic of a rejected video

Compliance sounds like paperwork until you price the failure mode. The costs stack in a specific order.

| Cost line | When it hits | What drives the size |
|---|---|---|
| Production budget parked | Immediately on rejection | The full spend sits idle until the file passes |
| Re-edit or reshoot | Days after | A spoken violation means re-recording, not trimming |
| Review cycle, again | After resubmission | Each pass adds waiting days you never get back |
| Lost conversion window | The whole time | Your ads keep running while the listing sells without its strongest asset |
| Vendor relationship tax | Ongoing | Rush fees and queue-jumping to fix what an hour would have prevented |

Run the comparison honestly. The pre-render pass is one person, one hour, against a checklist. The rejection path is the same fix plus days of delay, and if the violation was spoken rather than overlaid, the fix is a re-record. No other hour in the production calendar buys that much.

Whether the video is worth producing at all is a separate question that should have been answered earlier, at the [product research](/amazon-fba-product-research) stage, where the market and the margin get sized before creative budgets exist.

## What most vendors will not tell you

A video vendor gets paid on delivery, not on approval, so the compliance risk quietly transfers to you at the moment the file lands. Few contracts say who pays for a rejection re-edit. Ask before you sign, and watch the reaction: a vendor who runs a real compliance pass will answer instantly, because rejections are rare enough for them to guarantee the fix. A vendor who improvises will talk about how their videos usually get through.

From my aggregator years, the tell was always the script stage. Vendors who sent scripts for claims approval before filming almost never produced a rejected video. Vendors who sent finished films for feedback produced most of them. The order of operations is the whole game.

## Related answers

- [Amazon product video production for electronics](/blog/amazon-product-video-production-for-electronics)
- [Product video script template for Amazon](/blog/product-video-script-template-for-amazon)
- [What to include in an Amazon listing product video](/blog/what-to-include-in-an-amazon-listing-product-video)
- [Product photography with compliance to Amazon guidelines](/blog/product-photography-with-compliance-to-amazon-guidelines)
- [Amazon sourcing and product research services: the complete guide](/blog/sourcing-and-research-services)

If you would rather hand the claims list, the script pass, and the upload to one accountable team, that is the standard we run at [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Source the product](/guides/product-sourcing)
- [Calculate the tariff on a shipment](/tools/tariff-calculator)
","published","product-sourcing",[14,15,16],"product-images","listing-setup","brand-registry","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/sourcing-and-research-services-06.jpg","2026-09-04T11:20:51.798+00:00
[22,26,30,34,38,42
"compliance-checklist-for-amazon-product-videos-faq-1","Yes, for putting video on your own listing.
