Choose full-service when you cannot name the constraint.","Hire PPC-only when your listing converts, your margin is known, and ad efficiency is your single bottleneck. Hire full-service when you cannot say which of those is true. A PPC agency sells a portion of one of the five traffic channels, priced as though ads were the whole growth strategy.

## The short version

- **PPC agency:** one part of one channel. Right when ads are the constraint.
- **Full-service:** diagnosis plus execution across channels. Right when you do not know the constraint.
- **The five channels** are organic, paid, promotions, influencer and creator, and off-channel.
- **Most agencies of either type run two of five.** Ask which.
- **If conversion is low, no amount of ad spend fixes it.**

## What each one actually covers

I run Flapen with 50 operators managing about 70 brands. This comparison gets muddied because both types describe themselves as growth partners.

| Area | PPC agency | Full-service |
|---|---|---|
| Campaign structure and bids | Yes | Yes |
| Ad creative for image and video | Sometimes | Yes |
| Listing copy and conversion | No | Yes |
| Photography and video production | No | Yes |
| Promotions and deals | Rarely | Yes |
| Influencer and creator program | Rarely | Yes |
| Off-channel traffic | Rarely | Yes |
| Sourcing and quality control | No | Sometimes |
| Inventory and account health | No | Yes |
| Diagnosis of the actual constraint | No | Should be first deliverable |

The last row is the real difference. A PPC agency is hired against a brief you write. A full-service agency should tell you what the brief ought to be.

## The decision test

Answer three questions honestly.

**Do you know your conversion rate, and is it good for your category?** If not, you cannot know whether ads are your problem. Ad performance connects directly to organic ranking, and both are capped by listing quality and primary image click-through rate.

**Do you know your landed cost per unit and your true margin after returns?** Without it, no ACoS target means anything, and a PPC agency will optimize toward a number that has no relationship to your profit.

**How many of the five traffic channels are you running?** If the answer is two, your growth constraint is probably not bid management.

Three confident yeses point to a PPC specialist. Any uncertainty points to buying the diagnosis first.

## Cost comparison, done fairly

PPC agencies often price as a percentage of ad spend, which looks cheap at small budgets and gets expensive as you grow. Twelve percent of $3,000 is modest. Twelve percent of $20,000 is not, for work that has not become proportionally harder.

Full-service is usually a flat fee. Ours runs $800 a month for one product up to $2,400 for five, with all 50 plus services included at every tier and no commission or revenue share.

Compare on a two-year view rather than a first-invoice view, and put your own coordination time into the PPC column, because someone still has to own listing quality, creative, inventory, and account health.

## Can I use both

Yes, and it is a reasonable structure if you keep the boundary clean.

The workable version is full-service holding strategy, listing, creative, and account health, with a specialist running campaigns underneath. The failure mode is two parties both believing they own the ad account, which produces conflicting bid changes and a monthly argument about attribution.

If you do this, write down who sets ACoS targets, who can pause a campaign, and who owns the weekly number. One owner per decision.

## What most agencies will not tell you

Both types usually run the same two of the five traffic channels. Organic and Sponsored Products is what the industry teaches, so it is what the labor market supplies, and a full-service badge does not automatically mean promotions, influencer and creator, and off-channel are covered.

Ask both types the same question: walk me through the economics of each of the five channels for my product. The answers separate agencies far more reliably than the labels do.

The second thing: a PPC agency has no commercial reason to tell you your problem is conversion, because that work is outside their scope and outside their fee. They will optimize around a broken listing indefinitely and the reporting will look busy the whole time. That is not dishonesty, it is scope.

## Related answers

- [How to vet Amazon PPC agencies](/blog/how-to-vet-amazon-ppc-agencies)
- [How to evaluate Amazon PPC agencies](/blog/how-to-evaluate-amazon-ppc-agencies)
- [Amazon agency vs freelancer pros and cons](/blog/amazon-agency-vs-freelancer-pros-and-cons)
- [Affordable Amazon advertising management](/blog/affordable-amazon-advertising-management)
- [Hiring an Amazon agency: the complete guide](/blog/hiring-an-agency)

If ads are not your bottleneck, the audit will say so before you spend.
