Plan 4 to 6 founder hours a week.","There is no single best service, only a best match for the problem that is actually blocking you. Before comparing vendors, work out whether your blocker is the product, the listing, the traffic, or the supply chain. Then ask every candidate one number: how many brands does a single account manager carry.

## The short version

- **A launch is four separate jobs.** Product selection, listing and creative, traffic, supply. Most vendors are good at one of them.
- **Diagnose first, shop second.** A vendor asked to fix an unnamed problem will sell you the service they staff best.
- **Brands per account manager predicts your experience** more reliably than any case study, testimonial, or slide deck.
- **Budget your own hours too.** A launch takes 4 to 6 hours a week of the founder's attention, dropping to about 2 hours a month once systems are running.
- **A written audit before any invoice** is the cheapest way to test whether a vendor can see your account clearly.

## Start with the symptom, not the vendor

New sellers usually arrive with a symptom and a guess about the cause, and the guess is wrong about half the time. Sessions are flat so they buy advertising. Advertising was never the problem. Work through this before you brief anyone.

| What you are seeing | Most likely cause | Who has to fix it | The question that confirms it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Almost no sessions | Indexation and keyword coverage, not budget | Listing and search side | "Which of my target keywords does this ASIN index for today?" |
| Sessions but few orders | Main image, price position, or review count | Creative and pricing side | "What is my session to order rate versus category norm?" |
| Orders but no profit | Acquisition cost above unit economics | Advertising and finance side | "What does one new customer cost me, by channel?" |
| Good week, dead week | Stockouts and reinstatement lag | Supply chain side | "What is my cover in days, at current velocity?" |
| Steady returns creeping up | Product or expectation mismatch in the copy | Product and content side | "Which return reason codes are growing?" |

The value of this table is that it tells you which vendor to shortlist. A brilliant advertising firm cannot rescue a page that converts badly, and a listing studio cannot fix a product that arrives damaged. Buying the wrong specialist is the most expensive mistake a first time seller makes, because you lose the money and the quarter.

## The capacity number

Ask each candidate how many brands one account manager carries. Then ask who that person is, by name, and what else lands on their desk in a given week.

At Flapen we run about 70 brands with 50 operators, a ratio near 1.4 brands each, and we publish it because it is the number that decides whether anyone is thinking about your account on a Tuesday afternoon. I am not claiming that figure is the only workable one. A firm with heavier tooling might carry more per head honestly. But a vendor who cannot answer the question, or who answers with "it depends on the client", is telling you the account will be handled by whoever is free.

Two follow ups make the answer real. Ask what the manager does personally versus what goes to a shared pool. Ask what gets dropped when two brands have a crisis in the same week. Every operator has an answer to the second question. Only honest ones say it out loud.

## What a new seller should actually buy, in order

1. **A written diagnosis.** Listing quality, primary image click through rate, conversion rate, ad performance, traffic channel activation, pricing, and return rate, in one document, with the fixes ranked. Ours is free and lands in 48 hours. If a vendor will not commit anything to writing before you pay, that is your answer.
2. **Product and market validation.** Research depth beats research volume. Market size, growth trajectory, return rate, segment dynamics, and rating gap decide whether the launch is worth funding at all.
3. **Listing and creative.** Photography, video, and A plus content built for the conversion problem the diagnosis named, not a generic refresh.
4. **Traffic.** Advertising switched on once the page can hold a visitor, with acquisition cost reported by channel rather than a single blended figure.
5. **Supply discipline.** Reorder points, lead times, and a cover target agreed before the first stockout rather than after it.

Anything sold as a bundle should still break down into those five lines with a named owner against each. If it will not break down, it is a retainer with a story attached.

## What most agencies will not tell you

A launch service will not tell you that the first month is mostly cleanup. Flat file errors, category restrictions, a trademark that has not cleared, images that fail the white background rule, a brand registry application waiting on a document. None of it is glamorous, all of it blocks revenue, and it is the reason a launch does not begin the day the contract is signed.

The second thing nobody volunteers is that a good launch partner will sometimes tell you not to launch. Turning away a fundable product is easy. Telling a founder who has already paid a factory deposit that the market cannot support the price is not. Ask any candidate for a case where they told a client to stop, and listen for whether the story has a real cost in it.

## Related answers

- [Questions to ask before hiring an Amazon agency](/blog/questions-to-ask-before-hiring-an-amazon-agency)
- [How to launch your first product on Amazon](/blog/how-to-launch-first-product-on-amazon)
- [Amazon FBA launch costs breakdown](/blog/amazon-fba-launch-costs-breakdown)
- [What does a good Amazon account audit include](/blog/what-does-a-good-amazon-account-audit-include)
- [Amazon launch services: the complete guide](/blog/launch-services)

The free written audit is the same document we use internally, and you can request it from [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Plan the product launch](/guides/product-launch)
- [Estimate your launch cost](/tools/launch-cost-calculator)
","published","product-launch",[14,15,16,17],"amazon-fba","private-label","seller-account","listing-setup","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/launch-services-02.jpg","2026-09-04T08:46:51.798+00:00
[23,27,31,35,39
"best-amazon-fba-launch-services-for-new-sellers-faq-1","Plan for 4 to 6 hours a week while the product is launching, mostly decisions rather than execution: approving creative, confirming pricing, signing off on inventory.
