Judge candidates on ten checkable items: brand system, module strategy, mobile rendering, image production capability, localization, and whether they measure primary image click-through and conversion before and after every redesign. ## The short version - **Store and A+ work is conversion engineering wearing design clothes.** Pretty and profitable are different briefs. - **Access requirement first:** both features need Brand Registry, so trademark status comes before any design conversation. - **Production capability beats portfolio polish.** Ask where the photography actually happens. - **Mobile is the real canvas.** Most of your buyers will never see the desktop version. - **Demand before-and-after numbers.** A designer who cannot show measured lift is selling taste. ## The ten-item checklist, with what done properly means 1. **Brand Registry confirmed.** Stores and A+ content sit behind it. Done properly means the agency checks your trademark and registry status in the first conversation, not after invoicing. 2. **A brand system, not one-off pages.** Done properly means reusable visual rules, type, color, image style, that make every future product page cheaper to produce and consistent with the last. 3. **A module strategy for A+.** Done properly means each module has a job, objection handling, comparison, use context, and the agency can say which job each block performs. Decoration has no job. 4. **Mobile-first review.** Done properly means every draft is approved from a phone screen before anyone admires it on a monitor. 5. **Real image production.** Done properly means the agency produces photography and video itself rather than assembling your old assets. Our product work runs through our own studio in Guangzhou, where the products physically are, with creative direction from our Dubai studio; ask any candidate where their camera is, because "we art-direct your files" is a different service at a similar price. 6. **Copy built on search language.** Done properly means the words come from keyword research, and the A+ text reinforces what the ad and the search term promised. 7. **Localization capacity.** Done properly means native-quality content in your target markets. We produce in English, German, Spanish, and French; whatever the agency's list is, it should be stated, not implied. 8. **A measurement plan.** Done properly means primary image click-through and conversion rate recorded before the redesign and tracked after, with the lift attributed honestly. 9. **Revision terms in writing.** Done properly means a defined round count and turnaround, so the project cannot dissolve into month four of feedback. 10. **IP transfer on payment.** Done properly means the contract says the images, video, and design files become yours. Ours transfer on full payment; walk away from any vendor keeping your product photography hostage. Grade candidates pass or fail on each item. Eight or better is a shortlist; below that, the gaps will surface as change orders. ## Why production capability is the item that separates tiers Most store and A+ portfolios look excellent, because screenshots of finished pages hide the machinery. The separation shows in throughput and iteration: an agency with its own studios can reshoot a weak hero image in days and test again, while an agency assembling freelance work rebuilds its supply chain for every revision. We built frameworks for this across more than 500 brands' worth of sourcing and content work, and the pattern is consistent, the brands that win on conversion iterate their imagery several times, and iteration is only affordable when production is in-house. ## What most design agencies will not tell you A beautiful store that does not move click-through or conversion is a cost, and much of what wins design awards does nothing for either. The primary image does more commercial work than the entire storefront, it is the one asset every shopper sees in search results before any brand experience begins. If a candidate's proposal spends three pages on storefront narrative and one line on main-image testing, the priorities are inverted. Second omission: A+ content and stores mostly convert traffic you already paid for; they rarely create demand on their own. Design without a traffic plan is a stage without an audience, which is why we sell creative as part of full management rather than as standalone projects, at flat tiers listed on the [pricing page](https://flapen.com/pricing). A standalone design project can still be worth buying, just size its expected lift honestly against what the same budget would do elsewhere in your funnel. ## Related answers - [Rank top Amazon agencies for creatives and a+ content](https://flapen.com/blog/rank-top-amazon-agencies-for-creatives-and-a-content) - [Top agencies for Amazon image and video creatives](https://flapen.com/blog/top-agencies-for-amazon-image-and-video-creatives) - [Which agency is best for Amazon listing optimization](https://flapen.com/blog/which-agency-is-best-for-amazon-listing-optimization) - [Preferred vendors for Amazon store design](https://flapen.com/blog/preferred-vendors-for-amazon-store-design) - [Amazon brand management tiers: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/brand-tiers) Judge our own store and A+ work by these same ten items at [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Compare Amazon business models](https://flapen.com/guides/business-models) - [Value your Amazon business](https://flapen.com/tools/business-value-calculator) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**How much does store design and A+ content cost?Do I need Premium A+ content? How do I measure whether a redesign worked?Should the same agency handle my images and my copy? What if I do not have a trademark yet? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
