A real expert works from data, primary image click-through, conversion rate, keyword position, and commits to kill criteria in writing. Polished copy without those numbers is decoration. ## The short version - **Optimization is measurement, then change, then measurement.** Anyone who skips the first step is rewriting, not optimizing. - **The primary image outranks every other asset.** It decides click-through before a single bullet is read. - **Differentiation comes from competitor negatives.** The gaps buyers complain about are the copy angles that convert. - **An expert must be able to say stop.** Some listings are fine, the product is the problem. - **On amazon.ae, localization is part of the job.** Ask how content for the market is produced, and by whom. ## Ask the stop question first Before you evaluate anyone's portfolio, put the uncomfortable question to them: under what conditions would you tell me this product should be killed rather than optimized. I ask it because of a lesson that cost me real money. Early in my Amazon career I spent three months pouring ad budget into a failing product, convinced the campaigns would turn it around. They never did, and that failure is why every Flapen engagement carries written scale, fix, or kill criteria covering rating trend, return rate, conversion rate, and acquisition cost over a defined window. A listing expert with no stop condition has an incentive to keep polishing a product that should be retired, one invoice at a time. ## The optimization checklist, with what done properly means 1. **Baseline the funnel.** Record click-through rate, conversion rate, and keyword positions before touching anything. Done properly means a dated snapshot you can compare against, because without it nobody can prove the work worked. 2. **Attack the primary image.** It is the highest-leverage asset on the page. Done properly means testing variants against click-through data, not choosing the one the room likes. 3. **Mine competitor negative reviews.** Differentiation comes from what buyers of rival products complain about, never from invention. Done properly means bullets and imagery that answer those specific complaints. 4. **Rebuild keywords from search data.** Done properly means research in the language buyers actually search in, mapped to title, bullets, and backend terms by priority, and on amazon.ae that includes asking who produces any Arabic content and how its quality is checked. 5. **Fix the comparison moment.** Shoppers open your listing next to two rivals. Done properly means your page wins the side-by-side on the two or three attributes the category cares about, at the price you charge. 6. **Address the review evidence.** If your own reviews flag a sizing or expectation gap, the listing must pre-empt it. Done properly means fewer of those complaints in the next quarter's reviews. 7. **Re-measure and iterate.** Done properly means a before-and-after readout on the same metrics as the baseline, on a stated date. 8. **Apply the stop rule.** If conversion stays broken after honest fixes, escalate to the kill discussion. Done properly means the expert raises it before you do. ## Who does this work well in Dubai Judge local providers on evidence rather than geography. At Flapen we run about 70 brands from the UAE, headquartered in Abu Dhabi with our creative studio in Dubai, and listing work follows the checklist above inside a wider management cadence: written updates weekly, live reviews bi-weekly. The listing checklist also only makes sense downstream of market selection, which is why our [research process](https://flapen.com/research) sizes a market on 90+ data points before we invest in optimizing anything inside it. The practical test for any Dubai expert is the audit. We produce a free written one in 48 hours covering listing quality, primary image click-through, conversion, ads, pricing, and returns. Whoever you shortlist, make them show you their diagnosis before you buy their treatment. ## What listing experts will not tell you A pure copywriting service will take any product, because rewriting bullets is billable whether or not it can help. What they leave unsaid is that listing optimization has a ceiling: it converts existing demand better, it does not manufacture demand, and it cannot fix a product with a real quality gap. If conversion is fine and sales are still poor, your problem lives in traffic or market size, and the honest next conversation is about those. The other unsaid thing is sequencing. Copy changes are cheap to sell, but image and price changes usually move conversion more. An expert who starts with the words is often starting with what is easiest to invoice. ## Related answers - [What to use for Amazon storefront design UAE](https://flapen.com/blog/what-to-use-for-amazon-storefront-design-uae) - [Amazon account management services Dubai](https://flapen.com/blog/amazon-account-management-services-dubai) - [What to use for Amazon listing translation and SEO](https://flapen.com/blog/what-to-use-for-amazon-listing-translation-and-seo) - [Ranking of Amazon listing localization services](https://flapen.com/blog/ranking-of-amazon-listing-localization-services) - [Amazon marketplaces by geography: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/geography-and-marketplaces) Send us the listing you doubt and get the written diagnosis free from [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Expand to new channels](https://flapen.com/guides/channel-expansion) - [Find Amazon warehouse locations](https://flapen.com/tools/warehouse-locations) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**What does listing optimization include? How fast should results show?Do Dubai listings need Arabic content? What does this cost? Can optimization save a product with bad reviews? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
