Choose by scale: under ten ASINs and one marketplace, a specialist freelancer is enough; multi-market catalogs need accountable ownership, not tasks. ## The short version - **Catalog work is conversion work.** Titles, images, A+ modules, and backend keywords exist to turn the traffic you already pay for into orders. - **Three buying options, three price logics.** Freelancers sell hours, software sells seats, agencies sell an owned outcome. - **Demand sizing comes before rewriting.** Optimizing a listing in a market too small to repay the effort is polishing a dead asset. - **Arabic and English are both mandatory on amazon.ae.** A catalog optimized in one language is half a catalog. - **Whoever you hire, require a before-and-after measure,** session conversion rate per ASIN, or you are buying prose. ## Start with an instruction, not a vendor Before you brief anyone, pull ninety days of business reports and rank your ASINs by sessions multiplied by conversion shortfall. The listing with heavy traffic and weak conversion is where optimization pays this quarter. The listing with no traffic has a different disease, and no amount of copywriting cures a demand problem. This is also the cheapest vendor test available. Hand the same data to each candidate and ask where they would start. An expert points at the traffic-weighted conversion gap. A body shop proposes rewriting everything at a per-listing rate, because that is how body shops invoice. ## The three options compared | Factor | Freelancer | Catalog software | Full-service agency |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | | Best for | Under 10 ASINs, single marketplace | Large catalogs needing flat-file hygiene | Multi-market brands where conversion moves real money | | What you buy | Hours and deliverables | Bulk editing, error flags, sync | An owned conversion outcome | | Weakness | No accountability after handoff | Cannot write, shoot, or persuade | Overkill for a two-SKU seller | | Arabic capability | Rare, verify personally | Machine translation at best | Should be native, verify anyway | | Cost logic | Per listing or per hour | Monthly seat fee | Monthly management fee | The decision rule I give Abu Dhabi sellers: count the ASINs that actually produce revenue, then count the marketplaces you sell in. One marketplace and a handful of ASINs, hire the best freelancer you can find and measure the result. Multiple marketplaces or a catalog wide enough that flat-file errors cost you suppressed listings weekly, you need software plus a human owner, which in practice means an agency or a serious in-house hire. ## What an expert does that a rewriter does not The difference is sequence. A rewriter starts typing. An expert starts by sizing what the listing could earn, because effort should follow money. At Flapen we will not even enter a market below about $2 million a year in category revenue, since under that ceiling there is not enough available profit to repay acquisition costs, let alone optimization labor. The same arithmetic applies to a single listing: a beautiful detail page in a dead segment returns nothing. Our market workup runs 90-plus data points before anyone touches copy, and the shape of that analysis is documented at [research](https://flapen.com/research). Then the craft layer, in order of leverage: 1. **Primary image.** It sets click-through rate from search, which compounds through everything downstream. 2. **Title structure.** Keyword placement for indexing, readable benefit for humans, within category style rules. 3. **Gallery and A+ content.** Answer the objections the negative reviews of competitors reveal. This is where differentiation is found, not invented. 4. **Backend and structured data.** Search terms, attributes, and a clean flat file so variations, browse nodes, and compliance fields stop silently breaking. 5. **Arabic-English parity on amazon.ae.** Both languages shape search and conversion in the UAE, and machine-translated Arabic reads as machine-translated to the buyer who matters. ## What optimization vendors will not tell you Most catalog projects are priced per listing, which quietly rewards the vendor for touching every ASIN, including the ones that cannot repay the work. Nobody selling per-listing packages volunteers that a third of your catalog probably deserves no investment at all, and that a kill decision would serve you better than a rewrite. The second silence: conversion claims without sessions data. "We lifted conversion 40 percent" means nothing without the traffic base, the season, and the price history. Ask for the business report screenshots or discount the story entirely. ## Related answers - [Amazon catalog cleanup and flat file experts](https://flapen.com/blog/amazon-catalog-cleanup-and-flat-file-experts) - [Who can optimize Amazon listings in Germany and France](https://flapen.com/blog/who-can-optimize-amazon-listings-in-germany-and-france) - [Amazon A+ content services near me UAE](https://flapen.com/blog/amazon-a-content-services-near-me-uae) - [Best audit for Amazon listings across EU marketplaces](https://flapen.com/blog/best-audit-for-amazon-listings-across-eu-marketplaces) - [Amazon marketplaces by geography: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/geography-and-marketplaces) If you want the traffic-weighted conversion gaps in your own catalog identified first, that audit is free at [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Expand to new channels](https://flapen.com/guides/channel-expansion) - [Find Amazon warehouse locations](https://flapen.com/tools/warehouse-locations) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**How do I verify Arabic quality if I do not read Arabic? What results should catalog optimization show, and how fast?Is A+ content part of catalog optimization or a separate service? Can software alone fix a messy multi-market catalog?Does Flapen take pure catalog projects in Abu Dhabi? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
