The job is deciding what gets worked on this week and what gets stopped. Anything narrower is a specialist, not a brand manager.

## The short version

- **The service list matters less than the standard.** Every agency claims listing optimization. Ask what finished looks like.
- **Five traffic channels exist.** Organic, paid, promotions, influencer and creator, and off channel. Most sellers run two.
- **Reporting is a service, not a courtesy.** A weekly written update and a live review every two weeks is a reasonable floor.
- **Bundling is the point.** Our full set of over 50 services is included at every pricing tier, from $800 a month upwards.
- **Anything a specialist does alone still needs sequencing.** That sequencing is the actual job.

## Why the role exists at all

An Amazon account is a system where each part changes the others. A better primary image raises click through, which changes what your advertising costs. A stock out drops rank, which makes the next advertising month more expensive. A price change moves conversion, which moves organic position, which moves the return on every campaign.

Specialists optimize their own part. A brand manager decides what the account needs this week given how those parts are interacting, and takes responsibility for the outcome rather than the deliverable. That is the entire difference, and it is why a list of services tells you very little on its own.

## The checklist, with what done properly means

Use this as a scoring sheet on a sales call. Ask for the second column, not the first.

| Service | Done properly means |
|---|---|
| Listing optimization | Keyword research first, copy built around terms that convert, then measured against conversion rate rather than a subjective read |
| Images and A+ content | Primary image tested for click through, A+ built to answer the objections that appear in competitor negative reviews |
| Advertising | Campaign structure documented, negatives maintained, targets set by product stage rather than one number for the whole account |
| Catalog and variations | Families structured so reviews pool correctly, attributes complete, suppressions cleared the day they appear |
| Pricing | A defined band with rules, not a reaction to whoever undercut you this morning |
| Inventory signals | Restock warnings raised early enough to act, because a stock out costs rank as well as sales |
| Reviews and ratings | Compliant programs only, with the rating trend treated as a leading indicator |
| Reporting | A written weekly update naming what changed and why, plus a live review every two weeks |

## The five traffic channels, and which two you are running

Traffic into an Amazon listing comes from five places: organic search, paid advertising, promotions and deals, influencer and creator content, and off channel sources such as your own email list, communities, or external media. Most sellers run two of the five, usually organic and paid, then wonder why growth flattens once the obvious keywords are already bought.

A brand manager's job includes deciding which of the remaining three are worth activating for your category and in what order. That decision is specific. A category with heavy visual demand behaves differently from one where the buying decision is technical, and the right third channel is different in each.

When you interview candidates, ask which channels they run for accounts like yours, which they have decided not to run, and why. A confident no is more informative than a yes to everything. If the answer is that they do all five for everyone, they run a template.

## What most agencies will not tell you

Most of what sits in a fifty item service list is table stakes, and the entire result comes from a handful of decisions made in a handful of weeks. Which product gets funded. Which listing gets rebuilt first. When the advertising target tightens. When something gets stopped. Everything else is maintenance that any competent operator performs.

The second thing: the service list is often a menu that quietly tiers. You buy the entry package and discover creative or research sits a level up. We took the opposite approach and include everything at every tier, so the price moves with product count rather than with feature gating. Whoever you talk to, ask what is excluded at your tier and get it in writing.

The third: services are delivered by people, and people have capacity. Ask who does the work, whether they are employed by the agency or subcontracted, and how many accounts they carry. We do everything in house, and that answer should be easy for anybody to give.

## Related answers

- [What does an Amazon brand manager do](/blog/what-does-an-amazon-brand-manager-do)
- [Who to hire to manage Amazon ads and listings](/blog/who-to-hire-to-manage-amazon-ads-and-listings)
- [Amazon PPC and listing optimization bundled service](/blog/amazon-ppc-listing-optimization-bundled-service)
- [KPIs an Amazon agency should report weekly](/blog/kpis-an-amazon-agency-should-report-weekly)
- [Done-for-you Amazon management: the complete guide](/blog/done-for-you-management)

The full service list, tier by tier, is published at [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Compare Amazon business models](/guides/business-models)
- [Value your Amazon business](/tools/business-value-calculator)
","published","working-with-agencies",[14,15,16,17],"listing-setup","ppc","organic-ranking","off-channel","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/done-for-you-management-10.jpg","2026-09-04T05:24:51.798+00:00
[23,27,31,35,39
"amazon-brand-manager-services-explained-faq-1","A consultant advises and leaves you to execute.
