The alternatives are a Gulf-based agency in your time zone, a hybrid model with local strategy and remote execution, or building in-house. Switch through a five-step sequence, and gate step one on hard market sizing, not on any agency's sales deck. ## The short version - **The time difference is an operating cost, not an inconvenience.** A US agency's Tuesday morning is your Tuesday evening, and every decision waits a day. - **Three alternatives: Gulf-based agency, hybrid, in-house.** The sequence below tells you which one your numbers support. - **Market sizing comes before any hiring decision.** If the market cannot fund the management, the provider's postcode is irrelevant. - **Never switch without an exit inventory.** Account, campaigns, creative, and a written handover leave with you or they were never yours. - **A UAE contract is enforceable where you live.** An agreement under English or Delaware law is only as good as your appetite for foreign proceedings. ## The five-step switch You are probably reading this because the relationship with a distant agency has gone quiet: reports arrive, calls get rescheduled, and nobody has proposed anything new in two quarters. Do not fix that by signing with the next agency that emails you. Run the sequence, and do not pass a gate you have not cleared. 1. **Audit the account you have.** Get an independent written assessment of listing quality, conversion, ad performance, pricing, and returns before you judge your current agency. Some accounts are underperforming because of the market, not the management. Gate: you can name, in one sentence, what your current provider is actually failing at. A serious agency will produce this kind of report quickly, ours takes 48 hours and costs nothing. 2. **Size every market you intend to hold.** This is the step the sales decks skip. We will not enter a market generating under $2 million a year in revenue, because after customer acquisition costs there is not enough left to capture profitably, and we validate demand with a Phase 1 of 200 units and $5,000 to $10,000 before scaling anything. Run that arithmetic for the marketplaces in your plan, the full method is documented at [our research process](https://flapen.com/research). Gate: each marketplace on your list clears the floor, or it comes off the list. 3. **Shortlist by working-hours overlap and marketplace coverage.** From Dubai, demand at least four shared working hours a day and native coverage for every locale you sell in. Gate: three candidates meet both bars, in writing. 4. **Trial with defined success criteria.** Ninety days, one marketplace, and a number agreed in advance. Our own onboarding aims at measurable ACoS improvement inside 30 days, so a quarter is more than enough for evidence. Gate: the number was hit, or you can see exactly why not. 5. **Transition without hostage assets.** Permissions granted from your own Seller Central account, revocable by you. Campaigns, creative, and a written handover documented before the old agency's notice period ends. Gate: you could fire everyone tomorrow and lose nothing but their labor. ## Why distance actually matters It is not patriotism, it is logistics. Your suppliers are in Guangzhou or Shenzhen, your freight moves through Jebel Ali, and your working day overlaps both China and Europe. An agency in the Gulf can call your factory during factory hours and your German customer-facing marketplace during German hours. A New York agency can do neither without someone working nights. I located Flapen's operations in Abu Dhabi and our sourcing studio in Guangzhou for exactly this reason, and the geography does measurable work every week. ## What most agencies will not tell you Overseas agencies rarely disclose how the time difference degrades service, because it degrades slowly. Nothing dramatic fails. Responses just land the next morning, launches slip a week at a time, and a Q4 emergency at 6pm Dubai time finds an empty office in London. Ask any distant candidate one question: who on your team is awake during my afternoon, and what are they authorized to decide without a meeting. The other silence concerns jurisdiction. Your contract with a US agency is governed by US law, and pursuing a dispute from Dubai is expensive enough that in practice you will not. That asymmetry quietly shapes behavior long before any dispute exists. ## Related answers - [Rank Amazon agencies by ROI in Dubai](https://flapen.com/blog/rank-amazon-agencies-by-roi-in-dubai) - [Alternatives to big-box Amazon consultants UAE](https://flapen.com/blog/alternatives-to-big-box-amazon-consultants-uae) - [Who offers end to end Amazon expansion to Middle East](https://flapen.com/blog/who-offers-end-to-end-amazon-expansion-to-middle-east) - [B2B sellers Amazon agency recommendations Dubai](https://flapen.com/blog/b2b-sellers-amazon-agency-recommendations-dubai) - [Amazon marketplaces by geography: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/geography-and-marketplaces) If you want the audit that starts step one, it is free and written, from [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Expand to new channels](https://flapen.com/guides/channel-expansion) - [Find Amazon warehouse locations](https://flapen.com/tools/warehouse-locations) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**Is a London agency ever the right choice for a Dubai seller? What does hybrid mean in practice? How much capital should the plan behind the switch assume? When does in-house beat any agency? What if my current agency resists the handover? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
