# **Affordable Amazon multi-market dashboards**

A multi-market dashboard is cheap. Trustworthy numbers are not. Normalize currency, VAT, and attribution before comparing marketplaces on one screen.

The expensive failures are not software costs. They are decisions made on numbers that were never comparable: blended ACoS, mixed currencies, and revenue figures that include European VAT. ## What I learned building these for aggregators Before Flapen, I ran data and technology at BRANDED and at Moonshot Brands, portfolios that each held many Amazon brands across many marketplaces. I have been a software engineer since 2012, and building exactly this kind of reporting was a large part of the job. The lesson from those years is uncomfortable for anyone shopping for software: the dashboard was never the hard part. Making the numbers mean the same thing in every column was the hard part, and no vendor can do that step for you. So before you compare prices on tools, walk through the failure modes below. They are ordered by how much money each one has cost sellers I have watched, from worst down. ## The five failure modes, ranked by cost 1. **Blended ACoS across marketplaces.** One healthy market and one bleeding market average into a number that looks fine. The blend hides the exact signal a multi-market view exists to catch. Every marketplace needs its own advertising line before any total is allowed on the page. 2. **Revenue with VAT left inside.** European displayed prices include VAT. US prices exclude sales tax. Put both in one revenue column and Europe looks systematically better than it is, by about the VAT rate of each country. Margin decisions made on that column are wrong before they start. 3. **No fixed currency policy.** If April is converted at April's rate and May at May's, part of your "growth" is just the euro moving. Pick one policy, either a fixed planning rate or a documented monthly rate, and label every converted figure with it. 4. **Comparing data of different ages.** Marketplaces settle orders and attribute ad conversions on their own schedules. Yesterday's US number next to a fully settled German week is not a comparison, it is noise. Report on a lag every market has reached. 5. **Dashboards that report but never decide.** A screen with forty metrics and no thresholds produces reviews, not actions. Each metric needs a line that triggers something: investigate, cut, scale. ## What affordable actually looks like | Option | Cost profile | Honest verdict |
| --- | --- | --- | | Spreadsheet with correct normalization | Hours, not license fees | Beats most paid tools for up to a handful of marketplaces | | Mid-market analytics tool | Monthly fee per account or market | Worth it once manual pulls consume real hours weekly | | Custom BI on your own data warehouse | Engineering time | Right answer at portfolio scale, wrong answer for one brand | | Whatever your agency already runs | Included in the fee | Ask to see it live before assuming it exists | The pattern: pay for automation only when the manual version is already correct and merely slow. A tool cannot fix a normalization rule you never wrote down. At Flapen we build our own reporting, advertising, and brand valuation tools with an in-house tech team, and even there the normalization rules came first, the software second. The metrics we consider worth tracking per market are the same ones we require in [research](https://flapen.com/research) before entering one. ## What dashboard vendors will not tell you Per-marketplace pricing multiplies quietly. A fee that looks small for one market becomes a real line item across six, and the tool's value does not multiply with it, because most of the insight lives in your two biggest markets. Price any tool at the marketplace count you will have in a year. The demo is also not your data. Demos run on clean catalogs with tidy attribution. Your account has renamed campaigns, migrated ASINs, and a mystery SKU from 2023. Every vendor knows the setup effort is the product, and almost none will quote it honestly. Ask what the first month of data cleanup requires from your side, in hours. ## Related answers - [Best tools for managing multiple Amazon marketplaces](https://flapen.com/blog/best-tools-for-managing-multiple-amazon-marketplaces) - [KPIs to track for multi-market Amazon sellers](https://flapen.com/blog/kpis-to-track-for-multi-market-amazon-sellers) - [Tools to automate VAT invoicing for Amazon Europe](https://flapen.com/blog/tools-to-automate-vat-invoicing-for-amazon-europe) - [Compare Amazon marketplace repricers and order routers](https://flapen.com/blog/compare-amazon-marketplace-repricers-and-order-routers) - [Amazon marketplaces by geography: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/geography-and-marketplaces) See what normalized multi-market reporting looks like on a live account at [Flapen](https://flapen.com/amazon-consulting). ## Keep learning - [Expand to new channels](https://flapen.com/guides/channel-expansion) - [Find Amazon warehouse locations](https://flapen.com/tools/warehouse-locations) ## **Frequently Asked Questions**Do I need a paid dashboard if I sell in two or three marketplaces?Which metrics belong on the one screen everyone sees? How should I handle currency conversion?Should I build a custom dashboard instead of buying? Can my agency just provide this? ## About the Author![Joel Turcotte Gaucher](https://flapen.com/_vercel/image?url=%2Fimages%2Fteam%2Fjoel-turcotte-gaucher-avatar.webp&w=64&q=100) [**Joel Turcotte Gaucher**](https://flapen.com/blog/author/joel-turcotte-gaucher) Founder & CEO at Flapen Joel has spent 10 years in Amazon and ecommerce, running data and technology at BRANDED and Moonshot Brands, two of the largest Amazon aggregators, where he audited and scaled 60+ acquired brands.
