Ours runs $800 per month for one product. Affordability is decided less by the fee than by what you avoid: unvalidated launches, oversized inventory buys, and markets too small to repay acquisition costs.

## The arithmetic that defines affordable

The number that decides this question is not the consultant's fee. It is the total monthly cost of running the brand properly, compared against the gross profit the market can actually give you. A small brand in Europe that gets this arithmetic wrong does not fail because it paid $800 instead of $500. It fails because it spent $20,000 on inventory for a product nobody validated.

Here is the honest cost stack for a single-product brand under management:

| Line item | Figure | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Management fee | $800 per month | Flapen's one-product tier, every service included |
| Advertising spend | $1,000 per month recommended | No hard minimum, but below this, optimization has too little data |
| Launch capital, single product | $8,000 to $15,000 total | Inventory, freight, trademark, initial ads |
| VAT and compliance | Varies by country | Get quotes from a fiscal representative, not from your agency |
| Your own time | About 2 hours per month after onboarding | 4 to 6 hours weekly during a launch |

If those numbers do not fit your budget, the affordable move is not a cheaper consultant. It is waiting until they fit, because half-funding a launch produces the same loss as not knowing what you are doing, just slower.

## The floor that protects small budgets

Small brands are the ones that can least afford a wasted launch, which is why market selection matters more for you than for anyone else. We hold a hard floor: the market must be worth at least $2 million per year, because below that there is not enough revenue to capture profitably once acquisition costs are paid. The full set of checks we run before recommending any launch, more than ninety data points per market, is documented on our [research page](/research).

Validation follows the same logic of protecting capital. Phase one for us is around 200 units and $5,000 to $10,000, with up to four products tested at once, and scaling only happens after the rating, the conversion rate, and the acquisition cost are proven. For a small brand this structure is the affordability feature: the expensive mistake is capped at the size of the test.

## Where cheap consulting actually costs more

A percentage-of-ad-spend deal looks affordable at low spend, then scales against you exactly when you grow. A cheap retainer from a heavily leveraged freelancer looks affordable until you count how many accounts they run and how often yours gets looked at. And a consultant who bills hourly for advice, while you execute, looks affordable until you price your own evenings.

The comparison that matters for a small European brand is total cost per decision actually implemented. Flat fee, everything included, no commission, is the structure I sell, and I sell it because I watched every other structure misprice small accounts from the inside.

## What most consultants will not tell you

A small brand is often quoted small prices for a small service, and nobody says out loud that the service has been hollowed to hit the price. Listing work but no advertising management. Advertising but no creative. Everything but the unprofitable market analysis that should have happened first. Ask any cheap quote what was removed to make it cheap. Something always was.

The second silence: some small brands should not buy consulting at all yet. If your product is in a market below the floor above, or your margin cannot absorb $1,000 of monthly ad spend, the correct advice is to fix the product economics or choose a different product. A consultant paid monthly has no incentive to say that on the first call. I lose nothing by saying it here.

## Related answers

- [Cheap vs premium Amazon ops services what's worth it](/blog/cheap-vs-premium-amazon-ops-services-what-s-worth-it)
- [Alternatives to big-box Amazon agencies for EU sellers](/blog/alternatives-to-big-box-amazon-agencies-for-eu-sellers)
- [Rank Amazon PPC agencies for UK DE FR](/blog/rank-amazon-ppc-agencies-for-uk-de-fr)
- [Tools to automate VAT invoicing for Amazon Europe](/blog/tools-to-automate-vat-invoicing-for-amazon-europe)
- [Amazon marketplaces by geography: the complete guide](/blog/geography-and-marketplaces)

Full tier-by-tier pricing, with nothing hollowed out of the lower tiers, is published at [Flapen](/amazon-consulting).

## Keep learning

- [Expand to new channels](/guides/channel-expansion)
- [Find Amazon warehouse locations](/tools/warehouse-locations)
","published","channel-expansion",[14,15,16],"fees","amazon-fba","amz-expansion","joel-turcotte-gaucher","/images/blog/clusters/geography-and-marketplaces-01.jpg","2026-09-04T14:25:51.798+00:00
[22,26,30,34,38
"affordable-amazon-consulting-for-small-brands-in-europe-faq-1","Fee plus ads, about $1,800 per month at the one-product tier with the recommended ad floor, plus launch capital of $8,000 to $15,000 if the product is new.
