If your total launch capital is under $8,000, spend it on inventory and validation first. Management becomes worth buying once the product is proven, not before. ## The short version - **Full management from $800 per month** for one product. Ours goes to $2,400 for five. - **The fee is not your main cost.** A single-product launch needs $8,000 to $15,000 in total capital. - **Validate before you hire.** Start with 200 units and $5,000 to $10,000 in Phase 1. - **If cash is tight, buy the diagnosis, not the execution.** A written audit costs nothing at most agencies. - **Never buy management for an unvalidated product.** You are paying someone to optimize a guess. ## What you are actually choosing between I run Flapen with 50 operators managing about 70 brands. The most common mistake I see from early sellers is not overpaying for management. It is buying management too early, with money that should have gone into inventory. | Your situation | What to buy | Why |
| --- | --- | --- | | No product chosen yet | Nothing. Research | Nobody can manage a decision you have not made | | Product chosen, not validated | Validation inventory | Phase 1: 200 units, $5,000 to $10,000 | | Validated, growing, time-poor | Management | Now the fee buys back real leverage | | Validated, cash-poor | The audit, then do it yourself | Get the diagnosis, execute in-house | ### The sequencing rule Two-phase launch. Phase 1 validates: start with 200 units, test up to four products at once, and spend $5,000 to $10,000 depending on your traffic strategy. Phase 2 scales, and you only enter it once rating, conversion rate, and cost of customer acquisition are proven. Management fees belong in Phase 2. In Phase 1 you are buying information, and the cheapest way to buy it is inventory that either sells or does not. I learned this the expensive way, pouring money into a failing product for three months hoping the ads would turn around. Adding management to that situation would have made it a more expensively managed failure. ### What the fee does and does not cover At $800 per month for a single product, our fee covers the full service set: research, sourcing management, creative, listing optimization, PPC management, and consulting. Every tier includes all of it, with no commission, no revenue share, and no onboarding fee. Paid separately, at any agency: your inventory, Amazon's seller fees, trademark filing, freight, and your ad spend. Budget $8,000 to $15,000 total for a single-product launch including all of that, or $25,000 to $50,000 for a five-product brand. If a proposal blurs the fee and the pass-through costs together, ask for a version that separates them before comparing anything. ## What if I cannot afford management yet Buy the diagnosis and execute yourself. Most agencies worth talking to will audit an account for free. Ours returns a written report with prioritized fixes within 48 hours, with no charge and no commitment. That report is the valuable part. It tells you whether your problem is listing quality, primary image click-through rate, conversion rate, ad performance, traffic channel activation, pricing, or return rate. Knowing which of those is broken is most of the work. Fixing it is often something a founder can do in a weekend. Then apply one rule: do not spend on advertising management until you have at least $1,000 a month in ad spend. Below that there is not enough data for optimization to mean anything, and you are paying someone to tune noise. ## How to make a small budget go further 1. **Validate the market before anything else.** We use a $2 million per year minimum market size as the floor. Below it there is not enough revenue to capture profitably. 2. **Test up to four products at once with 200 units each** rather than betting everything on one. 3. **Fix conversion before you fund ads.** If conversion is low, no amount of ad spend fixes it. 4. **Run two traffic channels well** before paying anyone to run five. 5. **Set kill criteria in advance.** Rating trend, return rate, conversion rate, and cost of customer acquisition trajectory, with a window. Point five is what actually protects a small budget. Most early capital is not lost to overpriced services. It is lost to a product nobody was willing to declare dead. ## What most agencies will not tell you An agency will rarely tell you that you are not ready to hire one. The incentive runs the other way, and "we can help you launch" is true in the sense that we can, and expensive in the sense that management on an unvalidated product is optimization applied to a guess. The honest version: if you have not validated demand, an agency cannot fix that. We can source better, shoot better creative, and structure better campaigns, and none of it makes a $500,000 market into a viable one. Ask any agency to size your market before they quote you. If the quote arrives first, they are selling hours. ## Related answers - [Affordable Amazon advertising management](https://flapen.com/blog/affordable-amazon-advertising-management) - [Amazon FBA agency for beginners](https://flapen.com/blog/amazon-fba-agency-for-beginners) - [Fair Amazon agency pricing models](https://flapen.com/blog/fair-amazon-agency-pricing-models) - [Is full service Amazon management worth it for a single SKU](https://flapen.com/blog/is-full-service-amazon-management-worth-it-for-a-single-sku) - [Hiring an Amazon agency: the complete guide](https://flapen.com/blog/hiring-an-agency) If you are not ready yet, take the free audit and come back later.
